My mum is a fan of the Tau Suan and You Tiao here at Dough Culture. Although they usually give quite a generous portion of you tiao pieces, we always like to get additional you tiao sticks to go with the Tau Suan. However, there is always a queue here every time we patronize the stall. While the queue usually moves fast, there is always a need to wait for their you tiao which are always sold out very quickly. On this day when we went, we were told that there would be a twenty minute wait for the you tiao. We were short on time so we just got the Tau Suan and the Banana Fritters. Tau Suan ($1.80)The soup was thick and very smooth in consistency and had just the right amount of sweetness. The portion of you tiao pieces given was quite generous and complemented the mung bean dessert very well. I liked their you tiao which were soft and chewy inside. Of course, it wouldn't hurt getting additional you tiao to go with the tau suan! Top Left: Banana Fritter ($1.50)One of my favourites at Dough Culture. These sweet, ripe bananas were dipped in a thick batter and deep-fried to crispy, golden perfection! I must say, I do love their batter so! The banana fritter was very crispy and crunchy and the banana inside was firm and not soggy or mashy like some I've ate before. Delicious! Bottom Right: Banana Balls (5 for $2.00)This was like the smaller versions of the banana fritter and recommended for those who like to have more of the crispy batter with the banana. Although I liked the batter, I found that the banana balls seemed to be slightly less sweet and a tad softer inside compared to the banana fritter, possibly due to the batter-banana ratio. I ended up preferring the Banana Fritter over the Banana Balls. Other than the Tau Suan and Banana Fritters, I would also recommend the You Tiao, which are best eaten hot when they are still crispy and yet soft and chewy inside. That is, if you are lucky to find it in stock or if you don't mind waiting for it. The price is quite decent at $0.90 per stick, and there is also a discount if you buy more items together. For example, 3 to 5 pieces of items get you a $0.20 discount while 6 to 9 pieces of items will give you a $0.50 off the total price. Worth getting as an occasional treat!

I wanted to try their Dough Stick but have to wait 15mins so ended having Fried Spring Roll, Banana Fritters and Salty Cake. The Fried Banana at $1.50 is rather expensive, the batter was crispy. When I had the spring roll, it was cold, so the skin was not crispy and the vegetables filling were nothing fantastic. Sis had the salty dough cake and she said it was ok.
