Old Chang Kee is a long time favourite of my mum's and I have had my fair share of trying out their food, like curry puff, chicken nuggets and fish balls, every time she would takeaway some back for snacking at home. It has been quite a long time since I last had their chicken mushroom puff and decided on a whim to try it again.Perhaps as a testament to Old Chang Kee's popularity, there was a long queue forming when I went on a Tuesday's evening. However, the three staff manning the counter were fast and efficient so the queue moved quickly enough and I didn't have to wait long for my turn. The staff were also friendly and courteous despite the queue. Having already made up my mind earlier, I got the Chicken Mushroom O', Gyoza and Cheezy Chicken Balls to go.Chicken Mushroom O' ($1.40)The Chicken Mushroom O' did not disappoint. A very fragrant aroma waft out immediately upon opening and I was heartened to see that there was a generous amount of filling in it. The chicken chunks were big and tender too. The pastry skin were crisp and buttery and did not become soggy despite the chicken stock inside. Overall, it was like eating the puff version of chicken pie! Tasty!Cheezy Chicken Balls ($1.60) - on the rightThe cheezy chicken ball on-stik was another hit in my book. The chicken balls were chewy and juicy and the cheese didn't overwhelm. Just be careful when biting into the balls as the cheese, which was a little runny, had the tendency to squirt out! I thought these felt really bouncy. I was kind of tempted to throw them around on the table just to see if they would really bounce... but of course the only bouncing they eventually did was in my stomach. Gyoza ($1.40)The gyoza on the other hand wasn't as good as I expected. It was a little oily and while the skin was crispy, the vegetable filling was somehow too mushy and reminded me of slightly rotten vegetables. The taste was nothing exceptional either. Overall, I paid $4.40 for 3 items. The price may be a little pricey for each item, especially if you have a tendency to buy a bunch of them at one go like my mum, but I find some of the food like the Curry O', Chicken Mushroom O', Cheezy Chicken Balls and Fishballs to be worth buying, especially when having them as an occasional treat! 繼續閱讀

Sotong Wing on stickIt is very crispy in the outside as they have deep fried it and the sotong inside is hot and tender which makes it a great combination of crispy outside and soft inside. With the addition of Old Chang Kee’s chilli sauce makes the whole sotong delicious. There's a nice variety and you can surely choose something different each day. 繼續閱讀
