The bakery is located at one end of Raffles Hotel. It is decorated in a traditional style. It sells a great variety of cakes and breads, priced at rather reasonable prices.Salmon Quiche ($7.50)The dense quiche is chunky with lots of flaky salmon in it.SlingaPore ($6)Inspired by the Singapore Sling, the cake is an irresistible pastel pink and is both zesty and honeyed at the same time – thanks to the lime sponge paired with pineapple mousse, Singapore Sling marmalade and cherry jelly. It is created to celebrate the Singapore Sling 100th Anniversary. It is light and soft, with a hint of tart taste.Chocolate Banana ($6)It is a rather smooth and soft mousse cake without being too chocolatey. As it is almost the closing time of the bakery, there is 1-for-1 promotion for its items on the counter. Therfore the total bill is $13.50. That is a great deal isn't it. 繼續閱讀

My good friend told me about this bakery at Raffle Hotel, Ah Teng Bakery. We ordered Macaroon shell on raspberry tart; Chocolate Mousse Layer; Chocolate Banana. The cafe is has a old school feel but it's still Elegant and clean. The staff are very friendly helpful and patient with my hesitation of decision because there're just so many good cakes! You're definitely paying for quality here, I've been a member for years and they're 1st on my mind when I have a sweet tooth. 繼續閱讀

A warm-looking interior greeted my eyes upon entering Ah Teng's Bakery. The aunty (staff) was really friendly andprovided excellent service to us, customers. Although the place looked messy, it was messy in a positive way, whichgave me a sense of being welcomed to a home. Tsa always ordered coffee or tea. This time was tea, and I was quite surprised that they served TWG English Breakfast tea bag.Tsa decided to order the cheesecake to try which surprised me even more. Since when he eat cheesecake? Thecheesecake was nicely shaped as the exterior looked rather smooth as compared to elsewhere (more pleasing to look at).I liked the cheesy texture of the cheese and found it quite normal while Tsa found it too heavy for him. I was so glad tobe offered all the plump, juicy and sweet blueberries as Tsa did not like fruits! (The size of those blueberries were aboutthe size of 10 cent coins!) Besides the cheesecake, Tsa also ordered the kuih lapis. It comes in 2 flavours, pandan and original. This was the original and it tasted really tasty although it was only mildly sweeten. I think Ah Teng's Bakery baked it themselves. As for me, I decided to try out their carrot muffin crumble. The crumble was crunchy and sweet which my sweet tooth loved! Munching into the muffin itself uncovered chunks of thin carrot strips, raisins and walnuts. The balance of the muffin was great and there was no one time when I felt that the flour was too much or too plain. (If you preferred soft muffins, this would not be your liking.) Upon seeing that Tsa ordered a cake, I decided to pick one too. I decided to try out the chocolate banana cake which was the last slice on the display. The layered of sponge, cream, banana and chocolate were nicely stacked on top of each other, making it looked compressed. I found that the sweetness of the chocolate balanced out the other layers itself. The banana was slightly mashed and looked a little blackish which I tried not to be bothered by its colour. The bad mistake I made was not ordering a drink and the sweetness of both desserts almost suffocated me! (Exaggerated a little) 繼續閱讀

http://pixieprodigy.wordpress.com/2012/04/08/ah-tengs-bakery/While much of Singapore has changed since her founding in 1819, the essence of her colonial days is well preserved in the 125 year-old Raffles Hotel. The hotel named after the founder of Singapore, Sir Stamford Raffles was just a sombre-looking bungalow when it opened its doors in 1887. Fast forward to the present day, the hotel with its sprawling compound houses many posh boutiques, bars and dining restaurants. It was Easter Weekend, the perfect excuse to pamper ourselves with delicious food. I have not heard of Ah Teng’s Bakery. However, the fact that it resides in one of Singapore’s oldest and exquisite hotel could actually mean something. Or is it?It was a blast from the past kind of experience at Ah Teng’s Bakery. The marble tables and wooden chairs are reminiscent of the 60s. Given the name, it is excusable to assume that the bakery offers only Asian pastries and snacks. However, to cater to tourists from all over the globe, one can find tea time favourites such as scones and cakes and those were exactly what we got. Each Cake and Scone Set ($11.22, $10.28 respectively) came with coffee. There was a variety of cakes for selection and we ended up having a banana chocolate one. E has always prided herself on her ability to choose delicious food and her selection of the banana chocolate cake did not disappoint. The chocolate was rich and the fruit was almost whipped into a cream like texture. The soft and moist cake was a delight with every bite.Ah Teng prepares their scones rather differently from most places that we have been to. Instead of small bite-sized treats, we were handed something that resembled a bun. True enough, the top of the scone was as soft as what a bun should be like while the bottom was more scone like. We thought this one lacked a bit of flavour.I would not say Ah Teng’s Bakery offer the best food for brunch or high tea. It is passable but not fantastic. 繼續閱讀
