The restaurant was located at the second floor but hidden from the main walkway, unless one was on the way to the toilet or coming in from the outside. The restaurant was packed, especially with the young people. Based on the menu, the prices of the dishes looked reasonable and there was no GST or service charge. Single Pot Nabemono ($9.90)
Choose from prime Kurobuta Pork or premium US Black Angus Beef to shabu-shabu in a simmering hot pot. Comes complete with a bowl of our premium Koshihikari rice and a drink!
The minipot came with a choice of soup bases, which I selected the milky pig's bone soup. It was quite rich and slightly oily too. Based on the cashier's recommendation, I ordered Kurobuta pork version which used black pig and tasted more tender and fatty. Before eating, dipped the cooked meat with Goma sauce (Japanese sesame dressing sauce) and raw stirred egg, which made the tender meat smooth. For drink, it came with green tea which I selected a cold version as the weather was quite hot outside. The drink was quite bland but cooled me down easily.
Japanese Tatar Chicken ($3.30/ 3 pieces)
Boneless coated chicken fried to golden brown and topped with homemade tatar sauce.
The chicken was lightly coated, and tasted quite juicy inside. The tatar sauce was chunky with a hint of spicy taste.
Overall the food was great and reasonable priced. However it was really very difficult to get the attention of the staffs here. Maybe the restaurant should place some notice on the table so that customers could understand the system at the restaurant better.
