I held the thought that the food court in Lucky Plaza would be quite cheap (oh, the stereotyping) - but hey, no it isn't, really. On the contrary, it is very expensive if you were to compare it to normal food courts. The drinks here cost about $3 on average, or $2+ for a cup of soft drink. It is the ground for tourists to be preyed upon. On another note, Asian Food Mall should be renamed as Phillipines Food Mall instead. On another note, Asian Food Mall should be renamed as Phillipines Food Mall instead. They have all sorts of Filipino specialties including their dessert, Halo-Halo. You don't normally see that in your regular Kopitiam/ Food Junction/ Food Republic/ Kou Fu, do you?

After traveling around the food court for a few rounds, I decided that the Claypot Rice here looked the most appetizing... unfortunately it isn't too cheap. I ordered the Hotplate Beancurd Rice ($6).

Touted to be a MSG-free stall, after I saw the way they prepared my food, I am completely convinced. Because they drizzled a whole lot of soy sauce, dark sweet sauce and sesame oil - it is definitely MSG-free but seasoning and sauce spammage activity into my food. (Who needs MSG when you can have a reservoir of store-bought sauces?)

It didn't taste too different from what I can cook in the kitchen with some tinkering around... pretty disappointing actually, especially since the tofu wasn't the soft egg tofu I hoped it would be like in the usual tze char stalls. It was also wayyy too salty for normal human intake.

The canned vegetables sprinkled on the side didn't justify for its cost either. Not recommended - maybe something else would be better.

The dish... Hotplate chicken with rice...

The dish was simply pathetic.... Please the only thing that was good was the service.. The guy was entertaining but it was seriously 3rd class food...

I am paying $6 for the dish... a few bits of chicken, 1 egg, and half a bowl of rice... HALF A BOWL OF RICE!!!!! If you have ever heard about the food pyramid... that each person consumes 5 to 7 servings of carbohydrates a day... with some sauces... seriously... Ok so i am paying 6 for this dish... i would expect the chicken to be wholesome meat... that means i would expect to consume every piece of meat and not expect it to be with some bones... The taste is pathetic...

Imagine paying $30 for a mcchicken burger and eating it with bones...

I did not eat claypot rice for a while and i had a craving for it. I pass by this stall and decided to give it a try. I ordered the claypot chicken rice. The claypot rice was nice and hot when it came. I had requested to add more black sauce to the claypot rice, and it added to the fragrance of the rice. The serving of chicken pieces was just nice and goes well with the added dash of salted fish.
