I was here to have lunch with a colleague. We ordered from this stall for the first time. I ordered some of my usual favourite dishes like sambal sotong, sambal brinjal and braised pork belly. I asked for extra curry sauce to go with the rice. All the dishes were cooked nicely. The sambal sotong has got the right texture and freshness. My family and I have patronized this stall for years now. This stall is the best for exactly what it's sign carries- "Curry Rice". No fancy names, no gimmicks. I believe that is how confident the owner is in his food. The stall has been around for many years now and is a hot favorite among the working crowd and residents.To avoid long queue, it is best to come around 11.30-11.45am. The star here is the Pork Chop "Ba Pa". Crispy on the outside with a very good "crust" and tender inside. The crust is thin and tasty unlike other places that have it breadcrumbed- thick and bland. Meat is very well marinated as well. This hainan pork chop retains a very traditional flavor and is a mark that many other stalls fail to meet. Stewed Cabbage with vermicelli "Ko Lei Chye" is a MUST ORDER. It is so well done. I can taste that a lot of effort goes into the preparation. The cabbage is soft and well stewed in a very light ("qing") gravy. I can slurp it down like cabbage soup. Always in need of a second serving of this. Stewed Pork "Lor Bak" is popular alternative of the Ba Pa when it comes to ordering a meat dish from this stall. (Personally, I always order both!) The Lor Bak here is well flavoured. Slight and subtle herbal taste to it. Not too fatty. Usually they ask if you want extra fatty or less fat.Home-made Char Siew. Only regulars are familiar with this hidden gem that is usually not on display. You can try your luck ordering this. Succulent pork slices served in a thick and tasty sauce. They usually top the Ba Pa with this char siew sauce- a great combination.Deep Fried Prawn Fritter. I absolutely love this to death. But only available on certain days so u have to see if u are lucky. The batter is great! and the prawn inside is nicely peeled and very fresh. Perfect for lazy people like me =)Owner is very friendly and service is good and fast. I also noted that workers all have good hygienic practise of using gloves. 繼續閱讀
