Tucked away in the heart of Geylang, inside the Tanjong Katong Complex -formerly ''Yokoso Department Store" - is the Di-Tanjong Katong Cafe Restaurant.
Truly nostalgic in its set up and ambience, it's a local, Chinese and halal restaurant, all rolled in one. The waitresses adorn batik unifroms that resemble the Singapore Girl.
The menu presents a never-ending list of mouth-watering food items that leave you confused...''What should I have?"
We tried the Indonesian Fried Bee Hoon and Kway Teow - the dishes had a different flavour - a mixture of Malay and Chinese style cooking.
The Omelette was huge for a small serving and had generous amounts of prawn, mushroom, capsicum and other vegetables.
The Baby Kai Lan was cooked just right, with garlic and a little sauce - it was tastefully different!
For drinks, we had Iced Lemon Tea and Coffee. I like the way the coffee was served (see picture)
The good service and the no-frills set up will certainly take me back to Di-Tanjong Katong Cafe Restaurant again...and again!
