Dinner at Domani

Decided to step into this restaurant for pasta since it had been a long time since we last had pasta.We order the mushroom salad as both of had a crazy crave for mushroom ~ The salad was tossed with quite an amount of vinegar which makes a great appetizer. The vegatables are freshly selected and the mushroom are nicely sauteed. *thumb up* Main course: Slipper lobster fettucine The slipper lobster was quite a disappointment. It does not taste that fresh as the texture of the meat was quite sogg

 The slipper lobster was quite a disappointment. It does not taste that fresh as the texture of the meat was quite soggy. Nevertheless, the sauce was awesome!

Dessert: Brownie ice cream

 The ice cream taste quite normal as the one we bought in NTUC shopping mall. The brownie was not well heated and it does not taste wet and chocatety. However, with the combination of the peanuts and the cereals, the overall taste of the dessert taste not as bad.

Overall dining experience: The restaurant was not full and It took at least 10min for the every dish to be served!

The boyf and I decided to dine at Domani since we wanted to try out some good food. The menu here looks promising, so we gave it a shot.There’s a set meal promotion whereby you can choose one soup/salad, one pasta, and one main at $26.90. We figured 2 set meals would be too much for us. So we ordered one set and one individual pasta.Set meal: Caesar SaladCrunchy leaves, bacon bits, cheese and croutons. What’s not to like? The boyf and I decided to dine at Domani since we wanted to try out some good food. The menu here looks promising, so we gave it a shot.

There’s a set meal promotion whereby you can choose one soup/salad, one pasta, and one main at $26.90. We figured 2 set meals would be too much for us. So we ordered one set and one individual pasta.

Set meal: Caesar Salad
Crunchy leaves, bacon bits, cheese and croutons. What’s not to like? (:

Set meal: Crabmeat and Asparagus Cream
I love how thick and creamy the pasta sauce was. And it’s not “drenched” with it so you don’t get sick of it. Plus they gave real crabmeat!! You know how some cheapo restaurants state “crabmeat” on the menu, but serve the imitation frozen kind. Zzzzzz.

Set meal: Hamberg Steak
Juicy patty (I think it’s beef) with roasted potato. I super love the potato!!!

We also ordered a soup and pasta to go along.
Seppia Nero – squid ink pasta ($15.90)
I’ve never ever tried squid ink pasta before so I don’t know how it should taste like. But I like it here! Can’t describe the taste, kinda tangy and seafood-y. Some people don’t like the lingering seafood smell/ taste but I’m fine! (:

Onion Soup ($5.90)
So so only, can skip.

Total bill: $48.70 + 10% = 7% = $57.30

Nice cosy restaurant under Pokka Food. The unit used to be occupied by Pasta Cafe @Ngee Ann City Basement 2. Now they have changed the name to Domani & serve Spanish Italian cuisine. Take a look at our appetizing starters in the picture above. Actually there was 1 more Fritto Mushroom Salad tat wasn't in the pic. That was yummy! ;)We also ordered 2 main courses - 1 Meatball & Sausage Spaghetti and 1 Mentaiko Spaghetti (marinated cod fish roe). Both were delicious The portions were quite big & g

The portions were quite big & generous, so we were really full & couldn't finish all the spaghetti. The final bill came to about $54 which I would say is a reasonable price for the sumptuous meal. It's worth giving this restaurant a try.

Lack of customer service

The location used to be Pasta Cafe & now occupied by a Spanish restaurant (cafe) , Domani. Domani means ” Tomorrow” in Italian but I felt that the restaurant has no ”tomorrow”I wonder if there was anything wrong with this cafe as business wasn’t that brisk & even though the staffs wasn’t busy, the staff simply ignored the people standing at the door. Soup of the day: Minestrone Soup

Well, no complains as it was decent

Tapas: Spanish omelette
A typical Spanish egg omelette has fried potatoes and onions in it. However this spanish omelette was the ”Chinese’‘ version. It has bits of onions, ham & capsicums but it was too thick and bland. I think I can do a better version than this!

Pan Seared seabass with creamed spinach

The seabass has a crispy skin but the fish meat was over-salted. I like the mashed spinach that was smothered on the seabass which has a savoury flavour.

There were many flaws with this Spanish Cafe & now I understand why the biz was poor.

1st : Poor customer service! Ignored customers @ the door.
2nd: I have yet to finish my food & they can’t wait to clear off the plates . Food were served at one go even though I told them to serve the next course after I’m done with the present.
3rd: Staffs were idle and looks blur .
4th: Manager shouting at staff due to staff’s mistake & cause a stir.
I doubt I would be back……..
