High Society Cafe & Restaurant is a very elegantly-furnished cafe / restaurant with hints of Old World Charm and contemporary beauty - think, thick red velvet drapes, black-and-white tiled floors, white-washed walls and tablecloths, big bold chandeliers and monochrome paintings. It could even be described as a little "gothic", but in a classy manner.I love this place immensely, for the beautiful ambience, friendly service and great music playing through the day / night. The tasteful High Society music - mixtures of an assortment of Lounge and World music in different exotic languages - adds to the enigma of this cafe / restaurant.Be it for dating, chilling out between friends or even functions, this place offers a superb setting to suit every occasion - simply let down your hair, lay back on one of those cushy armchairs and let the music bring you to exotic places you never thought you would be transported to.The Clam Chowder, while generously filled with baby clams and tastes delicious of a rich creamy soup base, I thought the soup was a little too thick. Surprise birthday celebration for my colleague at High Society.I ordered chicken roulade with mushroom; baked then seared flavorsome chicken was tender and scrumptious. Perfectly cooked crunchy asparagus is sweet, lightly seasoned sauteed mushroom is chewy and aromatic, beautiful touch of topping this dish with fresh greens. Strawberry Short Cake was cute and petite in size; soft and moist vanilla sponge covered with smooth kirsch cream and fresh slice strawberries, topped with fresh whipped cream dollop ‘sinfully delicious’ 繼續閱讀

some have tried.and some have succeeded.but then there are also those who have failed.this.passed with flying colours on its presentation.but it's taste was a failure at best.sigh.The scallops tasted like they were drowned in salt water.It was painfully salty.the crystal prawns were all that they were supposed to be though. juicy and crunchy.the laska... hmm. what laksa?try the one at laksania. it's so much more worth your calories. 繼續閱讀

But it seems that perhaps our expectations might be too high. Served on a bed of mash potato, the portion of this lamb shank is huge but the taste was lacking. If you were to compare this to the original photo in here, the mixed greens were clearly missing.It seems like the lamb and the sauce are two separate entities as there is only the gamey taste of the lamb. The sauce had no clear red wine taste too. This sets off a sign that the rest of the food might fall into bad shape. And unexpectedly, the Norwegion Haddock in tempura batter and fries with air flown garden leaves (the main course which I ordered) is neither visually appealing or taste as fantastic as it sounds.The fries were totally unsalted and the tempura batter was not crispy and done in the Japanese style. The fillet itself had no taste or any fragrance of being fried. The tartar sauce was average and even though it did help me to finish with the fillet. I think there is no need to highlight anything about the salad that was "air flown". German KnucklesThe skin is crispy but the meat seems relatively drier than those served at other local German Restaurants. Some commented that the sauerkraut was not sour enough. Once again, like the lamb shank and the fish, this pork has no distinct flavour on it's own. Would be better if they can finetune their food by improving the quality to attract customers back . Its been awhile since i had a good cupcake. Been craving for it since forever, and i've been too busy with work to bake one myself. I walked past High Society everyday since i work around the area and the cupcakes displayed have always attracted my attention, got me drooling. The ambiance was cozy and it shouts classy all over. So i finally tried bought a cupcake, so $6. Abit too pricey. It was up to my standards, but i've definitely tasted better at a cheaper price. 繼續閱讀
