Good:- Ordered the Pink dragon roll. It is actually salmon sushi maki. The cooked salmon is tasty and eaten as a whole with the sushi, it tastes heavenly!- Ordered Avocado soft shell roll. The crispy soft shell crab tastes wonderful with the cool avocado at the top.- The sashimi tastes really fresh and soft.- Ordered japanese egg with pork. The pork meat is soft. Front view from ground floor of the entrance to the restaurant. No lift for wheelchair bounded people so only suitable for those who can walk up the stairs.As we walked into the restaurant, we felt this is one high class type of Japanese dining as it feel so authentic with very comfortable lighting that shine onto the wooden tables, chairs and wooden floor. The whole concept is great for having a relaxing meal over here but pricing will sure be on the high side. (This is what we called value for the $$)The staff who attended to us since we entered the restaurant is very friendly and attentive though they do not allow me to change to a more spacious table when requested but instead, they are able to counter offer us by saying they will not serve the dishes very fast to suit our table space. For that, I felt quite happy with their service as they knows how to reject customer request in a nice way.Sashimi (5 Kinds) @ $42 (2 slices each) / $63 (3 slices each). Sashimi includes Tuna Belly (Otoro), Salmon, Sweet shrimp, yellow tail and scallop. The quality of the sashimi is great. Sashimi are cut at the same size and placed nicely on top of crashed ice. Most importantly, they taste very fresh.These are one of the special sushi roll listed in the menu and I wanna try it since I never seen anything like these before. The ingredients consist of Spicy seasoned cod roe, sweet omelette (Egg), cucumber and salmon wrapped with Japanese preserved mustard leaf. There is some green taste but it was nice overall taste with sweet omelette and crunchy cucumber on it. Need to eat the whole of the sushi to enjoy the different ingredient being exploded inside your mouth.Even though the salmon sashimi is quite thin, they actually added some sesame (plus sesame sauce) on it making the sashimi very nice smelling and taste nice. The half boiled egg are mixed with their special soya sauce which you can dip the salmon sashimi onto it before putting it into your mouth. The taste, sweet and refreshing taste where I had never really tasted before. I would highly recommend this dish if you eat over at this restaurant. (Do try out the Hamachi aka yellow tail version too @ $17.80)To me, this is a nice dish with juicy beacon mixed together with a special Caesar sauce but not really good for those who are health conscious due to the salty and fatty meat of the beacon. This is one nice but expensive dish. Popular foie gras (aka goose liver) are being marinated with teriyaki sauce before preparing and served it onto a crispy thin slice of bread. Need to eat it all in with one mouth full to enjoy the full delicious taste of this dish.Shiokoji marinated meat platter includes Berkshire pork belly, tender chicken and salmon. I think the meat are a bit hard to bite on and would not really order this dish again as I think there are better ones in the menu to choose from.Lightly grilled Golden eye snapper fillet slices with spicy seasoned cod roe served with green tea bonito soup. To me, it is more like a Japanese version of the Hakka Lei Cha as you need to pour the tea based soup over the rice before eating it as a whole. Taste is sweeter than normal Hakka Lei Cha but still not to my liking as I do not really like to eat Hakka Lei Cha too. Good for anyone who wish to eat healthy though.…查看更多

I'm sure anyone one out there reading this blog would to a certain extent, used or heard of Groupon. It's one of those things on the internet that makes the older generation doubtful about such too good to be true deals. At least that's how my parents react whenever I key in my credit card number on the Internet. I have to confess though, while it makes the dining at a posh place more affordable, there are instances where I have bad if not terrible time using them and reading online articles against the use of such deals just emboldens my thoughts about using them.But amidst those bad ones, there's always better if not unforgettable ones to mediate the use of deals and one of those good experience I'm talking about was found at Sun Japanese Dining, Chijmes. It all begin when one of us started asking around if anyone would be interested to try the $20 for $40 worth of sashimi deal at Sun Japanese Dining. Being the ever gluttonous me, knowing but not attending was just too hard to resist and a reservation for nine was in place.Good quality sashimis are usually not associated with the word, affordable. They just don't go hand in hand or at least I think they don't just like the Scallop Sashimi. Expensive but delectable if not wonderfully plated on crushed ice.While we plan what could we order that is within the range of 40 bucks, three smart alec (including me) decided with to get an array of raw fish for $42 (Five kinds if you insist on knowing). Wise choice I have to confess. Every piece I took just made me wish my wallet could spare for more. No, I am serious about it. It is really fresh and terrific, particularly the red cuts (Tuna). You just don't find good ones in Singapore these days. Maybe because of the price, perhaps?Ever since I started food blogging, I found myself using the word, best excessively. True enough, best is subjective to the individual's taste. Some of you out there would even doubt if best is a good enough description associated with food since there's always something out there better. To me, if there's something that I tried and it taste nothing like before, in fact better, then it deserves the me lavishing my attention on it.I tried many raw shrimps in Singapore and none of them could rival the ones prepared at Sun Japanese Dining. For me, my search for some of the best sashimi in Singapore might just end with the Ebi Sashimi with the Sun. They were great if not the best ones I had in my life.Being the gluttonous people we always have been, we just can't resist helping ourselves with their menu even though it might just mean one month of mixed rice lunch at the local coffeeshop. Their California Rolls were nothing amazing compared to their sashimis, just a few rolls of rice with avocados, cucumbers and what else green.Overall, if you're searching for top notch japanese foodfare, Sun Japanese Dining at Chijmes might be a place to consider. That is if you're willing to pay for the hefty bill behind it. I was just thankful that we used Groupons this time and service was definitely worth commending since our cups were almost always filled while the staffs took time to explain and take down our orders.…查看更多

It is pleasant experience dining at this Japanese restaurant as the sashimi are super fresh and service is good. However, the food is relatively more expensive than most Japanese restaurant which I think is reasonable as you pay for what you get. If you are a sashimi lover, the sashimi platter (as shown in the 1st picture) is something which you can order. The sushi platters (as shown in the 3rd and 4th pictures) also taste good. Yumz!…查看更多
