LENAS. the hip and eponymous American Italian restaurant named after its passionate founder is the current place to be at with their vast menu, trendy decor, bustling atmosphere and daily promotions. Catering to everyone with their massive menu selections and affordable prices, it is a fantastic place to hold family gatherings. With a Wide Array of food items to choose from, It's hard to decide on 1.Their Salad is generous with their cheese and greens. With the dressing on the side, you can choose to pour it over your salad or not.Their Grilled Chicken Salad is one of the best I've had. The Tender pieces of chicken on the fresh and crispy bed of greens made it such a delight to enjoy. The Chicken was marinated to perfection, not too salty and not too bland even with the dressing over it.While Spagetti is not their Niche, It's passable and the seafood selected in this tomato base spagetti is fresh.This dish, Seemingly looking like a Japanese Katsudon but the rice separated, is the 1 dish I would go back to LENAS for! Tender pieces of Breaded Dory Fish covered in a delicious Egg Sauce and kept warm with a small fire accompanied with the Fragrant Garlic Rice, it almost felt like I'm eating a Katsudon!Desserts are something not to be missed in my dining experience If my stomach space allows. LENAS's Ice Cream Parfait looks beautiful and taste as good as it looks too! Topped with Marshmallows and Fruits, bottom covered with Cornflakes and a little bit of Chocolate Sauce, delightful.Remember to try their Breaded banana brownie hot pan with Vanilla Ice Cream as well. I brought my 11 yearold girl for dinner at Lenas Tampines 1 last Friday and we were not disappointed with the food and service. The only thing that turned me off is they charge 30cents for a glass of water. Seriously, can't they serve water for free? Highly recommend the carbonara creamoso for pasta lovers but be warned that it is very rich, creamy and sinful. Part of the Ministry Of Food, Lenas is their Italian and American concept offering. The array of available menu options boggles the mind, but the actual quality and execution of each dish leaves a lot to be desired.Ambience at Lenas is rustic, with wooden furniture and low lighting. Most Lenas outlets share floor space with other Ministry Of Food outlets, which result in a much more spacious layout and bigger dining area. Generally, expect Lenas to be noisy and crowded, partly due to its rather affordable and reasonably priced dishes.Service at Lenas revolves around quick and efficient. Product knowledge isn't a given, it depends on the seniority and experience of the staff serving you. Don't expect much conversation too. Most dishes can be served to your table within minutes even during peak periods (except pizzas), which is great.While the menu is vast, food at Lenas can be simplified as a choice of mains (fish, chicken, beef, pasta), and a choice of sauce (normally more than 10 varieties). The menu is huge because each main, paired with each sauce, is a different menu item. Dishes are considered cheap, especially for those with Lenas / Ministry Of Food membership, around SGD $15 - $20 per person. Taste and quality is where Lenas falls short, most of their dishes are just average, and some below average.Personally, I prefer the Pizzas and Sundaes at Lenas over any of their other menu items. A normal restaurant located at Tampines 1 branch, we decided to have our dinner at Lenas for a change. For our mains we ordered pizza and carbonara. The pizza was so so, unless u really like pizzas with thin crusts. The toppings were nothing out of the ordinary. Being a fan of carbonaras, I felt that the Lenas's carbonara wasn't creamy enough, it kind of lacks the richness and creaminess of carbonaras from popular places like Waraku. I had the smoked salmon pasta with creamy sauce at Lenas. Not a dish I would usually ordered apart from the tomato based meat pasta but since this is my first time dining in Lenas, I guess I will try something different. I added an additional egg yolk to make the pasta even more smoother and creamier. The dish came decently simple, with topping of the smoked salmon on my spaghetti pasta which is toss in their specialty creamy sauce. The smoked salmon tasted fresh, and the spaghetti is cooked al-dante. The egg yolk does brings out the creamy sauce flavor and thicken it thus I was feeling very full after polishing the whole plate. Lenas which from what I know, is under the management of MOF (Ministry of Food). Unlike other outlets catering more on Japanese cuisine and desserts, there's an added twist. You speak Italian? Though I still have to say that they do serve fantastic Hokkaido gelato ice cream which MOF takes great pride in. So much so that they even sell it by the tubs! No joke! It's your waste if you don't try it!Smoked Duck Salad ($10.90. I seldom order salad. It's one of those dish where I could like to think it's over-priced considering I could buy all the ingredients at the local supermarket and make them at my own mum's kitchen. But well, I have to give credit for the smoked duck and the gracious amount of Parmesan cheese sprinkled all over... Parma Ham with Rock Melon ($7.00). If my memory doesn't fail me, the last time I had Prosciutto or Parma Ham was at. Ahhh! Basilico at Regent Hotel. That was last year's X'mas. To even think that I am able to indulge myself in Parma Ham was just heavenly! I don't know who started the trend of eating rock melons with Parma Ham because it's one of those combinations where I could never seem to get sick and tired off! The sweetness of the melon and the umami factor of Prosciutto. Such is the Oomph factor in dining!Salsa Cruda Grill Dory ($15.50). Nothing special but I do have to comment on the portion! Walked around looking for a restaurant to have our dinner and decided on Lenas as we have yet to try before.Went in around 6 plus 7pm and there isn’t a queue. Glad we went in early cause there is a long queue awhile later.We took quite a long time looking through the menu to decide on what to have and decided on two hot plate items: Diced Salmon in Egg Sauce, and Chicken in Egg Sauce.We added the complete set to it too, which includes the rice, soup-of-the-day and a salad.ServiceThe service was good and prompt. Although its “wait to be seated”, we practically did not have to wait at all.We were also informed that a cup of water costs $0.30.FoodThe food arrived around 10-15 minutes after we placed our orders.All the dishes were placed on a wood type of round thick tray. First I noticed was the abundant of mushrooms on the top of the hot plate diced salmon.I immediately removed them as I did not like mushrooms and did not realize the dish comes with mushrooms.However there are a large amount of mushrooms and lots of small pieces which makes it difficult to remove the mushrooms completely.I got a little irritated after a while and just went ahead to have it since it is turning cold. The first taste of the hot plate egg sauce was disappointing. There was a super strong taste of the mushrooms despite that I have removed them.Glad that I was still able to taste the egg and that the diced salmon tastes fresh and sweet.For mine, I still had quite a lot of the egg sauce but my friend’s dried up and became hard after a while.What we like a lot was the rice. It is fragrant and the flavor is just right. Not too oily and not too salty either.There is quite a nice balance of herbs and spices which makes the rice tastes really delicious.The salad is comes with a sweet and sour dressing and it is really appetizing and tastes fresh.The soup is quite nice too, not too watery and the tomato taste is not too strong.Overall it’s quite a pleasant experience. Even though the price is quite high at around $23 per person for what we’ve ordered, the food tastes nice and the portion is fulfilling, so that makes it quite worth it ;DIf I were to have it again, I will definitely watch out and request for one without mushrooms the next time. Glad that this restaurant has been opened here, which is really convenient for me and my family since we stay near here. Their spagettis dishes are my favourite as the portions are also so generous and they are all equally delicious. My favourite among all will be their spaghettis with sliced sausages. My wife and i went to the worst Japanese restaurant . i always respect Japanese food as they have such high requirement of their foodI ordered the Bibimbap Beef - Cold Rice and 4 pieces of Pathetic beef and less than 20 stalks of Bean spouts . This pizza is quite unusual from the normal pizzas as there are generous amount of shelved clams meat topped on it. The pizza is also filled with the sweet nice fragrant from the shelved clams topped on it and the tomato paste spreaded on it are very sweet and tasty too. This outlet was pretty full during peak hours. Assume it should be nice, i proceeded in for my dinner. I ordered smoked duck spaghetti. Very interesting combination i must say thus decided to have a go on it. The smoked duck spaghetti with spicy aglio olio sauce was really spicy in my opinion. This dessert is one of the popular choices among their regular customers (as what the staffs have told me), so without hesitation, I have ordered it to try. The presentation is consider quite nice and simple. The ice cream is creamy and quite big in portion. The mini pancakes are soft and fluffy, which goes really well with the soft ice cream. My first visit after walking pass for a few times. The place isn't very crowded, thus no reservation is needed. Bolognaise i ordered. It is cooked in red tomato sauce with spaghetti and meat balls. You will find a huge variety of western style food at Lenas, a spin off of Ministry of Food. Their enormous menus consist of a permutation of meat, pasta, pizza, rice and baked rice. We ordered the Supremo pizza which was pretty decent but everything else was just meh. I guess it is quite difficult for grilled meat to go wrong with cheese, but it isn't easy to make it incredible either.The smoked duck spaghetti with spicy aglio olio sauce which was indeed spicy, was pretty good to me but scorned by my two friends because it was super oily. I didn't try the grilled chicken with pilaf rice but my friend ordered it two nights in a row.As for the desserts, we order the chocolate fondue because it was only $12.90. We would enjoy it even better if they gave more strawberries! The hot plate brownie with fried banana and hot fudge was a highly anticipated dish that fell flat.
