Truly Singaporean! How can one miss out a traditional singaporean way of having a steamed yam cake as their breakfast. Dad had managed to grab the last 2 pieces of yam cake from the stall and had them "ta bao" for me. As usual, I had them as my breakfast with a disposable spoon on the way to work. The yam cake was cut into smaller chunks with sweet sauce and sesame seeds all over them. "Zui Kueh" (Steamed Rice Cake) for breakfast! Finally something different from the stall as I have been having Chee cheong fun as breakfast for the past 2 weeks. 4 pieces of zui kueh was topped with preserved radish. I guess the success of a zui kueh dish depends on its toppings as they are almost tasteless. There is no chilli given and the amount of radish provided was stingy. Miserable! My "Ai Xin" Breakfast from my dad. He had "da-bao" (take away) a packet of Chee Cheong Fun for me in the morning. Ordered 2 Chee Cheong Fun for S$1.00 and was packed in the plastic bag. A disposable spoon was given and make it easier for me to consume them during my journey to work.The pack of chee cheong fun which was taken out from the steamer was scalding hot. Cut into smaller chunks and mixed in the generous amount of sweet sauce topped with sesame seeds. A economical way for breakfast.
