Mings Kitchen - Kopitiam (已結業)

Had dinner at Ming's Kitchen the other day. This is the Yew Tee branch and it is located at a Kopitiam food court. Business here seems good as there were many people waiting for a table. We got a table after approximately 10-15mins. This is the 5 Kinds of Vegetable ($12 for the small size). It has Kai Lan, Lettuce, Xiao Bai Cai, and some other vegetables that I don't know the names of. I like the fried garlic garnishing as it makes the whole dish more savoury. This is the Sliced Fish Hotpot ($22). This portion is alright for 3 people (small eaters, of course). The hotpot includes fish slices (obviously haha), seaweed, yam sticks, silken tofu, and some cabbage. The cabbage was very soft and the yam sticks were fragrant. Mings Kitchen is not like your ordinary Zi Char place. The waitress use PDA to take your order. I think it is pretty cool and high tech and your order gets send to the kitchen. My family decided to have our dinner there, as it was a weekend when we went there, there were simply a lot of people. It was in fact quite hard to even find seats. I got my sister to help me da bao a packet of fried rice for me for my dinner. she took initiative and helped me ordered the luncheon meat and chinese sausage fried rice, she claims that I should try something with more ingredients instead of the usual fried rice. this fried rice taste as good as it looks. The luncheon added a saltier flavor to the rice and the chinese sausage contributed some sweetness. It was a balance of flavor and it tasted really good and satisfying.

My mother and I went to eat the zi char at yew tee food court. As we were not big eaters, we ordered a medium size salted fish and chicken fried rice and an additional hotplate toufu to share among the two of us. I went to yew tee square for dinner with the family. We ordered the zi char. We each ordered their hor fun and we added on a dish of vegetables. My dad ordered the long bean with dried shrimp. It was pretty costly. The portion was just okay. I somehow did not really appreciate it. The dried shrimp made the dish a little dry. The long beans were very crunchy and the dish was not too salty as well. as a whole it was quite ok.

the queue at this zi char stall at dinner time is really long. But I think it was really worth the long waiting time. I ordered their luncheon meat and chinese sausage fried rice. firstly the fried rice is really fragrant. then the chinese sausage gives the dish a sweetish taste. The luncheon meat is on the saltish side, so it made the rice taste a little salty. The rice is cooked perfectly, you can see it grain by grain means it is not too clumpy. I tried the zi char from this stall. They have a lot of interesting varieties of their dishes. I ordered their salted fish and diced chicken fried rice. the portion was not too big. This stall charges an additional twenty cents for take away. My fried rice cost $4.50 so with the extra 20 cents, it cost $4.70. the fried rice is very fragrant, the chicken is diced really finely until you can barely see it. The salted fish is not too salty as well. It was really satisfying.
