Nice ambience, and the nice elderly lady at the front pulled customers in politely, recommending the restaurant. But other than the fact that the elderly lady at the front of the store is nice. there was nothing to delight in the service and food, I am sorry to concede that I had one of the worst experience. I visited just this afternoon for lunch – yes it was crowded, so I understand that we needed to share tables. So 2 of us shared a table with another 2 female diners, and we placed orders. When we were waiting for our food, a waitress delivered to the table beside us – it was crowded with 5 Indian gentlemen so the waitress asked for help from her Chinese colleague to place the places on the table smoothly. In order to assist her colleague, the Chinese waitress actually tossed the dirty table cloth she was holding onto our table, without any apologies or warning! It landed perilously close to me – nearly landing on me.While we were eating our mediocre, tasteless pho, the 2 ladies sitting beside us left. Another waitress and the Chinese colleague came over to clear – the Chinese colleague actually reached over us to try to wipe the table! Mercifully her colleague told her not to do that, since we were still eating. For the $10.80 I paid for this meal, because it includes service charge, I think this is the worst place I have ever visited. Pity for the pretty cute ambience. 繼續閱讀

Located in the middle of the food street row in the basement of One Raffles (formerly OUB building), there is a causal restaurant which offers Vietnamese food. During weekend, only limited shops are opened as the place is mostly catered to office crowd who is usually around during weekdays. This restaurant is one of those that still opens during weekends. The restaurant is decorated in stylish way with street signs around and brightly colored walls. The menu looks limited but reasonablely priced.Pork Dry noodles ($9.90+)Colorful decorated but the taste is a bit too bland for me. The shredded carrot is a bit too broad. The pork looks fatty but tastes quite juicy.I top up $2+ to make it a set meal with spring roll and a cup of coffee. The deep fried spring roll is served with a tangy spicy sauce.Iced Vietnamese Coffee ($3+ ala carte)The coffee is milky and rich in taste. Not too sweet but definitely not the bitter one which one usually associated with Vietnamese coffee.Overall the food is average. I am surprised to notice that there is a 10% service charge in the bill in such a causal place.  繼續閱讀

Another Vietnamese food venture.Located opposite of Don Pie in One Raffles Place, this is the place that I have passed by a number of times but didn't patronize because they are always crowded during lunch hours.Where would you like to be seated to enjoy your meal? ;)Go for their set menu which you just have to add S$2 on top of the price of the main course to have a complete meal comprises of main course + spring roll + tea/coffee.Select the main course from a spread of noodles and rice, you may also order appetisers from the menu for sharing.Pork Chop Rice with Egg (S$9.90)Pork chop was quite tender but a little salty if eaten on its own. A little disappointing as the rice and egg is cold when served but a pleasant surprise that the egg is in heart shape.Lemongrass (Add S$0.50 for Set Menu, Ala Carte S$3)Didn't felt like having tea or coffee so I add on 50cents for lemongrass instead. Its quite refreshing with the lemongrass taste not too overpowering.Special - Beef Slices & Balls (S$10.90)Choose how well you would like your beef slices to be cooked. My dining partner chose to have it medium so the beef slices are rather tender. Comparatively, the beef balls are a tad tougher.Vietnamese Milk Coffee (Comes with Set Menu, Ala Carte S$3)A caffeine satisfying milk coffee good enough for coffee lovers. Deep Fried Spring Roll (Comes with Set Menu)Semi crispy spring roll that is served lukewarm which taste better when consume together with the sauce. 繼續閱讀
