This was my first time dining at nydc. Nydc is a restaurant which serves western food and a wide variety of desserts! Deicded to try the Piggy Back Pork Ribs! The pork ribs were marinated and served with seasonal vegetables and golden wedges. The meat was really soft and tender, moist on the inside and not dry. Grilled new york strip.Medium well just like I ordered.Except that it wasn't as marbled as I wished it would've been, following the description on the menu.But it was a hearty serving of beef.Even the fat on the rind was good.I was also suitably impressed with their serving of fish and chips.Two generous pieces of pacific dory.Hand battered and served fried to a golden crisp.And accompanied by a side salad and these deliciously seasoned wedges.When was the last time you were at nydc?At Novena, it isn't filled with the younger crowd unlike the scene at Wheelock Place.I'm in the older generation already and I feel right at home with the working crowd at this outlet.Just saying. ;)…Read More

Okay I have to admit that i have no expectations of NYDC, been there a couple of times and thought the food wasnt fantastic. Anyway decided to try it out again as they had an one-for-one offer for main course. Ordered the medium rare steak and it was as how i like it, medium rare... some places overdo the 'rare' and it becomes overcooked... so I am glad NYDC managed to up the steak pretty nicely. The meatballs that ate manhattan cost $15.50 (if i remember correctly). It comes in a rather large portion which i was unable to finish eating alone and a HUGE meatball ontop. I liked the meatball because it wasn't hard and lumpy, but honestly, it could have been smaller because i really could not finish the whole thing. The environment looks really good here so I decided to bring my mum to have breakfast there. The egg omelette may look quite big in portion, but I should say it is too watery and not really fragrant on its taste. The half-cut tomato with melted cheese in it taste quite flat and does not really blend well together. The bread toasts is too soft even though it has been toasted. Not really filling as the portion is abit too small and light. You may need to order another one to two side dishes to have a more filling breakfast here. …Read More

My mum and I decided to go to NYDC located at NovenaVelocity for dinner. We glad we did cause the food was great. It was past 8pm so we were unable to order their set meal. Nevertheles, we decided to go ahead and order our meal as we were hungry.My mum ordered the soup of the day @ seafood chowder. It was delicious!I ordered nydc beef burger @ $17.95. It was a big portion. Nevertheless, I was able to finish it all by myself. :)My mum ordered roasted fillet of cream dory @ $16.50. Mum finds that the portion is quite small, but finds it tasty (however, at the end of her meal, she was already full...i guess she was being greedy...heh).Overall my mum and I enjoyed having our meals here. NYDC breakfast menu is quite simple and not much choices to choose. I have tried their pancakes with honey sauce. It took almost half an hour for the service staffs to serve the pancakes to me. The display of it is really nice and the smell was quite good. However after the first bite, was quite upset of it. The pancake texture is quite thick but abit tough. Honey used in this dish is quite alright but no much special taste in it. The price of it is quite high and not really a good bargain for the groups of students. Being in the vicinity of Novena, we walked around searching for a good and unique place to eat. And we happened to chance upon nydc. I haven't seen nydc cafe for awhile and they had promotions for students to lunch there at a realtively cheap price. Looking at the attractive food on the menu, we could not resist but to walk in to have lunch.After browsing through the menu we ordered a chicken cutlet kind of thing and creamy prawn pasta for me. We also ordered a side dish of butter mushrooms that looked great. When the food arrived, we knew we had not made a wrong choice. the food was absolutely delicious! It was really great and delicious. i always like nydc, very cute restaurant with yummy food. i love the cosy feeling that the restaurant give.here are some of my recommendations after numerous trips there:1. fish and chipsi love the batter that they use to coat the fish, very cripsy and buttery. the fish that use is very fresh, no fishy smell. dip the fish with their tartar sauce, a awesome combination. they serve wedges inside of fries, something new.2. buffalo chicken wingsthe marinate of the buffalo wings is very tasty and yummy. i love the crispiness of the chicken, yet it is juicy on the inside. very yummy!3. ally's new york cheesecakeit is really rich and cheesy. totally satisfy ur cheesecake rush! the slice is not too big that u are forcing urself to finish it and getting sick at the same nice. awesome!the service is pretty good too, didnt wait long for the food to be serve and the bill to come!…Read More
