Tze Char Stall at Hougang

Had an early reunion CNY dinner with my grandma today. We are having tze char dinner tonight at Kimly. It is within a coffeeshop and apart from the tze char, there are many more other nice food stalls within this coffeeshop.We ordered quite a few dishes today and one of the must order dish we always order when we come to Kimly is the Thai Styled Chicken. Had an early reunion CNY dinner with my grandma today. We are having tze char dinner tonight at Kimly. It is within a coffeeshop and apart from the tze char, there are many more other nice food stalls within this coffeeshop.

We ordered quite a few dishes today and one of the must order dish we always order when we come to Kimly is the Thai Styled Chicken. The chicken is coated with batter and deep fried till its crispy. The chicken is crispy on the outside and tender inside. Their thai sauce is great too, its a little sour with thai chili sauce and they added mango into the sauce. Thou they pour sauce over the deep fried chicken, but it did not turn soggy, the skin is still crispy. Best eaten while its still hot.

steamed kampong chicken with rose wine. $16 (half) $32(whole)It has a very strong wine smell and taste, so strong that it overwhelmed the chicken with the wine taste which I don’t really appreciate although, the chicken meat is quite tender. Signature Hometown Beancurd $13, the signature beancurd is very crunchy and the toufu is simply very smooth and soft.

Shark Fin Hor Fun!

Recently while I was watching Sizzling Woks 3, this shark fin hor fun they recommended kept appearing in my mind so I insisted of having it.And here I am! If you drive here, be prepared to have a battle in the car park! This coffee shop is too popular that the car park is too overly subscribe. When you enter the cash card system in the car park your car is trap. Cars are waiting everywhere in look for a slot and this prevent car from moving in as the car park is too narrow to navigate. And here I am! If you drive here, be prepared to have a battle in the car park! This coffee shop is too popular that the car park is too overly subscribe. When you enter the cash card system in the car park your car is trap. Cars are waiting everywhere in look for a slot and this prevent car from moving in as the car park is too narrow to navigate. Then when one car need to move out 3 cars need to reverse and make way. Lucky us, we just waited at the right spot that just nice the car is moving out. Thus, if you are here and driving, you might want to park else where.

When we stepped in to the coffee shop, oh my! It was so crowded, not only the zi char stall is famous, look like most of the stalls at this particular coffee shop has their own fans. We waited for awhile to get a seat for 2 as the zi char stall has limited seating.

 Shark Fin Hor Fun $12

When this dish came, I couldn't wait to dig in! Their hor fun is very smooth and the sauce is slightly sweeter. I just felt that for $12, the portion is only good enough for 1. But once in a while, it is okay to spoil yourself with it!

 Kang Kong $7

The Kang Kong is sure to satisfy those chili lovers! The cook sure hold no mercy when it comes to adding the sambal chili! Not only did the cook add sambal chili, he added a pinch of ikan bilis too. This Kang Kong is sure one that is hot but no worry the spicy level is still within the comfort level.

 Phoenix Balls $10

The Phoenix Balls comes in 6, taste wise is kind of like BBQ sauce on top of the prawns. We just couldn't stop eating it, it is juicy and the taste just linger in your mouth. A MUST HAVE!

Overall, we still felt kind of hungry due to the portion of the food. If you are here, order the medium or big portion to satisfy your hunger. A pretty good Zi Char stall!
