For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.comIf you have heard about the famous Bukit Batok Hokkien Prawn in the round market where 2 coffeeshops are, Soon Kee Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle is probably one of them. Being around for a long time and for they had been featured in media over the years, there is no doubt about the queue. With such paging system implementation to ease patrons from standing in the queue, it did really help us.Once, the pager alarmed we went straight to the stall and collect our plate of prawn me. With much anticipation, presentation had passed the bench mark. With a good consistency of thick white bee hoon and yellow noodles and ample of seafood topped the dish, it should be good. However, there was an absence of the rich Umami that marks the importance of a plate of good Fried Hokkien Mee. Unfortunately, the small portion does not come with the Opal Leaf while the medium and big does.So what's the verdict after trying both fried prawn Mee Stalls from Blk 155? Personally I will preferFried Baby Squid Prawn Mee Stall. Why? Apparently I felt that the stock of Soon Kee lacked the oomph and one ingredient, pork belly was missing from the plate. Could it be the reason why? What's your say? 繼續閱讀

This stall has been around for quite some time. I like how their hokkien mee is not so dry and not watery. The broth that they use to cook the noodles is very fragrant and after the noodles are cooked in it, it has fully absorbed the taste of the broth. The chilli is not spicy so I can comfortably mix the whole portion of chilli that they give, together with the noodles. Just order the $3 portion and it should be filling enough already! 繼續閱讀

My friend introduced me to this Hokkien Prawn Mee stall at Bukit Batok recently. Though I lived nearby for years, I never knew there was such a good Hokkien Prawn Mee stall there.I went there during lunch time and there was some queue, but the order came fast after a while. If you wanted to add extra their special Chilli sauce, this Hokkien Prawn Mee stall charges 50 cents. Luckily I did not add extra after I tried the Chilli sauce. The Chilli sauce was super spicy, a little on my tongue was like burning in fire. The Hokkien mee was very moist and flavourful with meat stock. I could not taste any MSG in the gravy. The prawns and sotong used were fresh and cooked just right, slightly crunchy. Though I did not like that the prawns still had shells on it.Overall, this Hokkien Prawn Mee stall was among the better ones in the western district of Singapore, better than the Clementi Food Centre one. 繼續閱讀

As I stay around the vicinity, I used to patronize this stall for their hokkien mee. They have quite a number of awards and media publicity. Their business used to be really good (still is) but is somewhat affected by their new contender located at the other side of the coffeeshop - another popular stall selling baby squid hokkien mee. Their hokkien mee do not have much gravy and their chilli is good that's why you've got to pay 50cents extra if you want extra chilli The prawns were fresh and the beehoon and noodles were always cooked just right. Standard is not as good as compared to years back though. Still worth a try $3 a plate. 繼續閱讀
