My favourite ice cream restaurant over the past 10 years is swensens and not just any swensens but the one at Upper Thomson Plaza. It has been there since my primary school days and it has outlasted most of the tenants at Thomson Plaza. Kudos to swensens! They are definitely doing something right!I have eaten here several times but I always get the salted gula melaka sundae. It is one of my all time favourites. It has chunks of nuts and toppings to add some crunch into every bite and the chocolate fudge might be an overdose of sweetness to some, but then comes the salty flavouring! My friends and I decided to have our desserts at Swensens to chill after dinner. I ordered the ice cream combo with the name "the rock", which comes in 3 signature scoop of their ice cream - cookies & cream, rocky rock and chocolate ice cream and also top up with caramel sauce and wafer sticks. I was surprised at the presentation when served to me - the bowl was on top of a plate of dry ice which created that smokey kind of feel. the taste of the ice cream is good though I think that the caramel sauce is too sticky and harden. Fried Mussel, this is one of the worst that Swensen has to offer. The mussel is not fresh and stink, which can barely be covered by the tartar sauce provided. The flour coating does nothing to covers the stench of the mussel as well. Swensen's has some new items on the menu, of which one is the crispy cornflake chicken. The appearance do not look appealing, and i was thinking to myself that it loook like just any fried chicken from fast food joint. But it turned out that i love this dish! Decided to have a farewell lunch with one of my closest friends before she flew off to the states. First off, I must say, the mushroom soup here is indeed one of the best I've had! It came in a lovely bread bowl and was served pipping hot. It tasted so creamy and everything was just right! Though, the bread did get a little soggy after awhile, we loved it!! <3We also ordered fries with dip! Being huge fan's of cheese, we beamed at the sight of the cheese dip that was served with fries. The fries tasted crispy and were not oily at all! :)Cheese fingers have always been one of my favorite's here! Fried to perfection! crispy on the outside and chewy sticky cheese on the inside. Instead of the usual whole cream cake to use for celebration of our girlfriend's birthday, we have decided to get the Earthquake ice cream to celebration her birthday instead. The design is sweet and colourful and the decoration is also quite creative. We were able to choose the flavour of the ice creams on it and there are also some sweet nice cherries topped on it as well. The whip cream make the taste even better and more appetitizing. Second time dine here with friends to celebrate my birthday. I ordered Pesto Salmon and BBQ Chicken Pizza. When the grilled salmon was served, it was small in portion. It was grilled salmon topped with pesto sauce, served with mashed potatoes. First bite, the salmon was not bad, fresh and tender. Personally, if the pesto sauce can give more, it would be nice. The mashed potatoes was average. The Pesto Salmon was average. The BBQ chicken pizza was served pipping hot and taste good. It was loaded with ingredients, and it's juicy and flavourful. The grilled chicken chunks were tender and chewy. Cheese was also plentiful and complemented the mild tomato base and really goes well with each other. I really like the ice cream from Swensens. Its very rich, flavorful and extremely rich. The ice cream tends to be soft and creamy which really melts in one's mouth. It also comes in 3 sizes to make it suitable for someone who wants to cap their appetite with something sweet or for those who just have a sweet tooth! The Earthquake at Swensen has always been a favourite of mine because I get to choose different flavours of ice cream, put together in this gigantic bowl of dry ice with whipped cream topped with cherries.
