I was there on a quiet Saturday for lunch. I chatted with the Uncle lightly. I asked him, 'This stall used to be at the already demolished Blanco Court a long time ago right?'. The eyes of Uncle brightened as he nodded his head. He asked, 'So, you remember us?' I said, 'I was very young then though could not quite remember the stall name but i always remember the plate of wanton noodle that came with many pieces of wantons.' He asked, 'So, you remember us?' I said, 'I was very young then though could not quite remember the stall name but i always remember the plate of wanton noodle that came with many pieces of wantons.' He said, 'My wife usually just threw the wantons in without counting the exact amount.' I said, 'I remember Auntie used to be on her own.' Uncle replied, 'I only started helping her when i retired a while ago.'
I ordered the wanton noodle and added the braised pork ribs for an extra $1 for a total of $4.00.
The portion was still a lot though a little lesser as compared to before but it still tasted quite the same. The noodle was cooked well to give it the desired springiness and chewiness. The char siew tasted a little dry but the wantons tasted good in a pretty old-fashioned way. The pork ribs were nicely braised as well. It might not be the best wanton noodle that i ever tasted but the familiar taste was rather comforting.
The Uncle approached me a little later. He asked, 'Does it still taste the same?' I nodded and smiled. He said, 'Come back more often then.'
I know i will be back again.
