The Baker's Story tells of a heartwarming tale about a man with a love for baking who had a dream. A dream to have a little shop dedicated to selling really good cakes and to share his very own original chocolate brownie recipe, culminated from months of experimentation and refinement before stumbling upon that golden ratio of cream cheese and brownie which will have you wanting for more.With more than 20 years working as a pastry chef in the kitchens of well-established hotels under his belt, Chef and owner of The Baker's Story- Eric Tan decided to take a leap of faith and venture out on his own. The risk paid off and 8 years after his first humble cake shop at level 1 of Sin Ming Centre emanated successfully, Chef Eric has since opened his second outlet at Orchid Hotel for more people to have a taste of this home-grown bakery.While the shop has now expanded its offerings to Fruit Cakes, Tarts, Dry Cakes, Mousse Cakes and Made-to-order Cakes, their signature cheese brownies still remain as their top sellers with up to 7 variations for you to choose from!First row: (L-R) Orange Cheese $2.80 | Banana $2.20 | Crunchy Cheese $2.80Second row: (L-R) Cream Cheese $2.20 | Mint Cheese $2.30 | Walnut Chocolate $2.30These cheese brownies were addictive with that cloying sweetness that usually makes you put down the fork after a bite or two, strangely absent. Dangerous, because you could possibly just eat it all, till the last crumb, without even realising it. It was that good. The winning factor for me personally was the malleable nature of the brownies (do not leave it un-chilled for too long, it crumbles) which allowed me to eat it immediately after taking it out of the fridge (unlike other brownies that turn rock hard when they are chilled). Another point was the gooey, creamy texture of the cheese brownies which was also incredibly smooth and rich.My top picks had to be the Banana and Walnut Chocolate because I always appreciate a contrast of textures in my food. But if you like your palate to be teased, then I say go for the Mint and Orange. Ever in doubt? Dive straight for the classic Cream Cheese or Crunchy Cheese, you cannot go wrong.

I used to frequent this place when i was younger as it is quite inaccessible when i can public transport. It was quite a distance from the bus stop that i get down. I found out about this place when i was walking around aimlessly looking for new food haunts. Anyway the 3 brownies were brought by my colleague, who also frequents this place. The brownies sold here is rich but not overwhelmed. My favorite is still the peppermint which is not pictured here.

Cheese cake brownie, owned by a family style bakery. Although the shop is small but it's good enough to fit in their oven and 2 set of tables. It's not my first time being here but many times I have been there and never regret traveling so far for great delicacies like baker's story! I feel that it taste deep down into my heart and never fail to fit my hear. I would introduce my all time favorite brownie cheese cake! MINT BROWNIE CHEESE CAKE! It only cost $2.30 for a piece and you will never regret however, dont order too much when you're trying out for the first time because a small piece can really fill you up.

A family-owned cafe selling cheesecakes, tiramisu and cheese brownies etc. The shop is well hidden at a corner of Sin Ming Centre. We ordered the signature cheese brownie, blueberry cheesecake, tiramisu, coffee cheese brownie, royal chocolate, chocolate chip cheese brownie etc. The price range is from $2.20 to $3.00, fairly affordable, the cakes and brownies are rather small pieces. The cakes were rather moist but the cheese taste is not very distinctive and the biscuit layer was a little too thin and not crunchy. The brownies were not too bad, soft and moist. If you have little expectation towards brownies and cheesecakes then perhaps you might want to give it a try.
