Full Review at http://lepakwithyaops.com/the-cajun-kings-singapores-king-of-seafood-boilsFollow Lepak With Yaops on Instagram and FacebookThe first of its kind in Singapore, The Cajun Kings serves boiled seafood drowned with mouth-watering flavors of Louisiana and provides a unique dining experience. Get ready to feast with your bare hands in this rustic and laid back eatery as this is the real deal when it comes to "Finger licking good"!I ordered the Seafood combo ($75) that came with 500g of white Prawn, 250g of clams or mussels, 6 sausages, 1 corn on the cob and selected the sweet potato fries. The sauce that seemed fitting for this seafood platter would be the King's Mix and we went for the spicy level (choice of mild, spicy and extra spicy)! The King's Mix was with infused with garlic butter, lemon pepper and Cajun spices, indeed a league of its own! For someone (myself) who abstains from most shellfish due to its after taste, but the sauce made whole lot of difference!Apart from the Seafood, we ordered this: Frog Legs! I know what you are thinking, but it's not chicken wings but legitimate gigantic Butter Fried Frog Legs!Overall, this messy experience is pretty refreshing from the usual fine-dining decorum. Although it did burn a hole in our pockets, but definitely worth the trip and an option future special celebrations! 繼續閱讀

This place is not bad.. definitely needa know the way in.. quite secluded.Oh.. remember to make a reservation b4 heading down... u might get turned away!food wise... it's not bad... get prepared to get messy (they supply u with apron) hehehe...love the prawns (fresh, big, succulent) worth the trouble of peeling We took the king's mix which was good, tried garlic butter the last round and it didn't do the mussels justce. Other must tries are the corn and sausages... I think they are gd as well!! Sweet juicy corn balancing the spicy savoury king's mix.. nice.We din get to try crabs... too messy for us hahaha 繼續閱讀

We were craving for some fries after dinner at the pizza place next to wimbly lu, and decided to drop by the cajun kings for some. The cajun kings is located next to Wimbly Lu as well. They have garlic fries and cajun fries, and we got the garlic fries for $7. Portion was alright for 2 to share, and they serve water as well which was good. Garlic was mixed with butter which added flavour to the rather skinny fries. The spicy mayo dip was good as well. 繼續閱讀

Went with my friends for dinner at this place as happen to be nearby at Serangoon. They serve mainly Western food and seafood. We ordered the Red Sea Prawns in spicy king's sauce, Bamboo Clams, Fried Treat Tio, Sausages and more. The food is delicious but portion is quite small and not really filling. We order 6 to 7 dishes for about 3 person but didn't feel full and decide to go somewhere else to fill up. I couldn't stop remarking about how unhealthy it is but ahhhhh, maybe its true that food can only be tasty or healthy. Overall service and food quality is good, no complaint too if you are looking at a place for supper, this is recommended. 繼續閱讀

For full write up & photos, please visit my blog: http://www.aspirantsg.com/foodie-food/battling-dungeness-crabs-with-hammers-at-the-cajun-kings/singaporeWhen we accepted the birthday dinner invitation for a close friend, we had absolutely no idea what we were in for. The facts only hit us when we were deliberating over the menu. Choices for mains were amazingly limited and we eventually have to settle for Dungeness Crabs as our staple!Shortly after our orders were taken, small 'pill' containers with salt & pepper mixture and freshly cut green lime were served. Note that this will come in real handy later as a dip for our rather bland crab meat. There is no escaping from getting into a mess with full hands-on action on the seafood later so we were all provided plastic aprons to protect ourselves from accidental spurts! That's our birthday boy posing for the camera! We entertained ourselves with finger food (which was pretty yummy) for a good 20 minutes before our crabs got delivered in huge plastic bags! This restaurant is definitely not going to win any environment friendly award in Singapore. The hot escaping steam makes it really tough to capture a good shot. And it proved to be even harder to remove the large scorching Dungeness crabs with its legs getting tangled all over within the bag. After a few minutes of struggling, we finally got Mr Crabby nicely seated on a wooden board. The crab's rich red tone makes it extremely inviting. In case you have yet to realise, the Dungeness Crab is not Asian. It is a species of crab that inhabits the eelgrass beds and water bottoms on the west coast of North America.I decided to do the opening act of pulling off the top shell. The crab butter or commonly known as the roe wasn't what we expected. They were runny and tasted rather fishy... not exactly a delicacy. However, a big plus point was that it has a lot of meat compared to its Asian cousins. To prevent excessive squirting, the trick was to hammer out those juicy morsels while keeping the crab in the plastic bags. Dungeness crab flesh has a faint sweet taste and that's about it. This Ang Mo style of crab cooking has utterly failed to absorb in much of the delectable gravy that it was steamed in. Other than crab, prawns were ordered as well. The aftermath of Mr Crabby's brutal murder was rather unsightly and the culprits has no intention of hiding the murderous tool.A quick visit to the wash basin will relief you of the post meal awkward stickiness. This will probably be the first and last time that I will patronise the restaurant. Not to get me wrong, the service staffs were wonderful and everyone had fun with the hammers and eating crabs out of plastic bags. Compared to asian crabs, dungeness crabs are definitely more value for money. But I am not a fan of the style of cooking, I very much preferred my black pepper, egg yolk and chilli crab anytime. But if you have yet to experience dungeness crabs, I will encourage you to give it a try. You may also like to check out my posts on other delicious food places here 繼續閱讀
