The Icing Room is another concept by BreadTalk offering DIY cake decoration services, although they have their own range of cakes and confections which I rather prefer to purchase from. With its pretty, sweet and girly decor and confections, I must say, it certainly impressed on first sight! It is a habit of mine to check out their display of pretty cakes whenever I pass by the area, whether or not I buy anything. But I have tried several of their products before from cakes like the Katherina Tiramisu to their other ranges of confections like cake pops, macarons, brownies, cupcakes, muffins and biscuit puffs. When I saw this pretty, colourful and fluffy little creation when I passed by one day, I just had to get it to try!Top Center: "Rainbow Cake" ($5.20)I don't really know the exact name, and neither did the salesgirl when I asked. She just said it was a "rainbow cake" with no specific taste in particular. Indeed, this was rather plain and mild in taste although I thought I detected a hint of berries in some bites. The sponge layers were soft and spongy with cream in between layers which helped to balance the dryness a little. Overall, I found this an okay even though it does look pretty colorful and fluffy!Bottom Left: Tiramisu Macaron ($1.80) Bottom Right: Earl Grey & Blueberry Macaron ($1.80)Each macaron piece cost $1.80 although you can buy 3 for $5.00. The flavour I like best among the macarons at the Icing Room is Chocolate but they didn't have it when I went so I just went with Tiramisu and Earl Grey & Blueberry. The shells were crispy but only just a little chewy. I wasn't too impressed with the Earl Grey macaron as it felt a tad "wet" and the filling was thin but the Tiramisu macaron fared much better with a crispier shell and slightly stronger flavour. These were quite okay but I've tasted better macarons elsewhere. Chocolate Walnut Muffin ($1.50) This little muffin was quite soft and there was a fair amount of chocolate chips and walnuts in it for the added crunch. There was also a hint of banana and I liked that the muffin was not too sweet. I've also tried the chocolate flavour which I liked as well for its chocolate-y taste. Yummy!Overall, I think the muffins at the Icing Room were quite decent and worth a try. The cake pops were also not bad - soft, chocolatey and moist on the inside - although the sprinkle topping was a tad sweet for my taste. The cakes here were pretty although taste-wise they were kind of a hit-or-miss for me. In general though, I loved the chocolate ones like the Caprice ($5.80) or Boston Chocolate ($4.20) for the richer taste. I'd definitely get those again! 繼續閱讀

Whenever there's birthday going on at my house, my cousin will definitely buy their DIY cake. There are 3 different sizes available. Took the 5" cake. Had fun decorating with 5 given colour icings and a packet of icing flower..The also clean the platform and gave as everything in a clean tray so we can decorate at ease.Overall, the cake decorating is nice, the cake itself wasn't as bad as I expected to be just a sponge cake, but the need to do something on queue management...Especially during peak periods. It is a perfect and also romantic idea if a guy willing to do this for their loved ones...CREATIVE! 繼續閱讀

Bought the green tea swiss roll ! The whipped fresh cream inside the swiss roll are not too sweet.Strong favor of green tea too! There was a strawberry on the cake, it has enhanced the look of it...simple yet nice! They dust some green tea powder on top of the swiss roll, which makes it kind of messy when you are eating it! It doesn't taste fantastic to me, just a normal swiss roll cake in the market. 繼續閱讀

Icing room is becoming my favourite cake shop, seemed to be visiting them everything I wanna get a cake. Their cake is seriously affordable. They have DIY counters for you to decorate your cake, how fun it is. I bought their smallest size one, 4 inch and it only cost $12.80. i got the vanilla flavor. it is not only vanilla flavor, inside there are a lot of mixed fruits. The cake is very moist and spongy. They did not use a lot of cream as well, so I guess it is not too fattening. Most importantly, the cake is very light, so you do not have the heavy filling after eating it. I was very satisfied. 繼續閱讀

I was really quite impressed with the fruit cake from The Icing Room. Infact my friend bought the Do-It-Yourself fruit cake and was decorated really very colourful. The fresh cream in it is very fresh and light, which is also not too sweet. Generous amount of mixed fruits are spread in between the sponge cake which blend in reallly well with the fresh cream. The butter sponge cake is also very soft and light as well. Will buy it for myself next time and decorate it for my family. 繼續閱讀
