Yong Tau Foo is among one of the healthier local hawker food in Singapore. Wanting something light for dinner, I decided to opt for the Yong Tau Foo at this stall after seeing quite a variety of food for selection on display!Yong Tau Foo ($4.20) - Minimum of 7 PiecesThere is a minimum order quantity of 7 items at this stall. There is a minimum order quantity of 7 items at this stall. Additional piece cost an extra $0.60 per piece while adding noodle or rice cost an extra $0.70. I opted to get just 7 pieces with soup - vegetables, crabstick, seaweed chicken, fried wanton, stuffed beancurd, fried tofu and stuffed taupok. Several stalls I've been to serve Yong Tau Foo that were quite oily, even the soup based version. I was glad that this stall's soup version was not oily, although it was milder in taste. However, you can add more sesame oil to taste, but I preferred it the way it came - less oily, milder and healthier.
The food pieces themselves were also quite decent in taste although I thought that the portion for some items was a little lacking. For example, the enoki mushroom bunch just had a few stalks (which was why I didn't get it) and the paste for the stuffed taupok was just a tiny portion slapped onto the surface. Not sure if this was the case for all their tau pok or just the one I picked. The red sauce was also quite watery and a tad diluted.
Personally, I thought that the other Yong Tau Foo stall at Causeway Point's Food Republic was much better in taste although it was comparatively more oily. But if you are not too particular on taste and prefer something light, mild and less oily (thus healthier), then this Yong Tau Foo stall at Bagus may be just for you.
