While we wanted to try the savoury waffles badly, we were a bit too chickened out to try the Squid Ink Waffles. We eventually decided to have the special of the day; the Chicken Schnitzel Buttermilk Waffles ($17.90++). It comes with a thick slab of fried chicken atop of the standard Buttermilk Waffles with mayonnaise drizzled over. Chicken was surprisingly huge, crispy and juicy. The slice of lemon adds a nice tint of sourness over the chicken, which makes it blend to the waffle better. The Kaffir Lime Mayo added seemed to add a slight confusion in flavour which was savoury but somehow did not really match with the Buttermilk Waffles that came with its own light touch of fragrance, though it seemed to boil down to the preference of one’s tastebuds.

The Apple Almond Crumble Buttermilk Waffles ($14.90++) seemed more like my sort of waffle, probably due to it being a sweet waffle. The crumbles were crunchy and subtly sweetener, and makes a perfect combination with the finely chopped almonds and the caramalised apples. I thought that the caramalised apples were somehow a bit too heavy on taste on its own, but worked out well if mixed with the vanilla ice-cream.

The drinks menu of Waffles Slayer remains largely similar to that of Stranger’s Reunion. The Magic ($5.50++) seemed better than my first attempt at Stranger’s Reunion; intense, milky and robust.
