When I crave something salty and oily, I head to Gyoza No Ohsho during lunch time. I'm not sure if this is part of the ramen chain but Japan but the stuff are pretty good (for the price anyway). The lunch and dinner sets are only available on weekdays, you're stuck with ala carte on weekends.
My favorite lunch set is the half-ramen, half-fried ramen, three gyoza, fried chicken and salad (yucks). They rotate the rice dish, sometimes it's fried rice (my favorite) and sometimes it's curry rice (not my favorite). The dinner set's the same stuff but with an added $5.
There's all-you-can-drink cold water which is very useful because the soup gets salty halfway eating.
Ramen and friends
For the lunch set, there's different type of soup bases. I usually go for miso or salt because it feels more authentic.
Taste-wise, it's pretty good for its price (like I said above). For $11, it's usually one bowl of ramen from other airconditioned restaurants (I'm looking at you Santouka.). Heck, even the stall itself sells one bowl of ramen for more than $11 each.
The fried rice is always good. Just the right amount of oil and salt. I love the fried chicken (karaage) but it feels like it's been refried one too many times. The gyoza is just refrigerated dumplings that have plastic-like skin.
Setting
The restaurant is just half a stall inside Cuppage Plaza. Like in Japan, there are counter-facing seats and tables.
Staff is attentive since the place is so small. Food comes very fast since they are half done by the time you order.
If you're ever in the neighborhood during weekday lunchtime, the lunch set is a good choice for relatively cheap ramen and will make you full.
