I've never been a fan of coffee because of the bitter aftertaste & I'd always choose tea over coffee, anytime. But a friend, K, introduced me to Chye Seng Huat Hardware (CSHH) & I fell in love with it. The rustic hardware exterior of the building was so unique and blended in really well with the surroundings. If my friend hasn't been there before, I bet I'd have overlooked it. Ambience was really good, & we had the seats directly facing a really big mirror. I read before that by looking at yours
One of the better salmon dishes I've had in cafes. Smoked to perfection, & the ratio of pancakes, salad & cream cheese. Perfect. Great pairing. K's Smoked Chicken Wrap ($12): Smoked chicken, mesclun, Japanese cucumber & mango with Thai chilli dressing wrapped in soft tortilla.
Tried the chips & thought that the salsa was pretty good, but definitely not as good as those in the Mexican restaurants or cafes. Despite the size, it was really filling according to K. Her favourite in this cafe. Ending with a photo of us & that pretty mirror.
Overall, this cafe really made my day, despite having meetings & rushing for projects for the rest of the day. Definitely worth trying, & I don't feel that it's overrated.
