Crystal Jade is a household name amongst Singaporeans for its chinese food. If you are one of those who love crystal jade, you would also have known that they have different cuisine concepts. Today, we bring you Crystal Jade Jiang nan, a unique dining experience with culinary delicacies from the south of the Yangtze River in China. read the full review here www.kopidiem.wordpress.com Crystal Jade offers a full-coloured xiaolongbao tray that comes with Crystal Jade’s Original Xiao Long Bao, Prawn Xiao Long Bao, Vegetable And Dried Beancurd Xiao Long Bao, Spicy Beef and Spicy Chicken Xiao Long Bao for an authentic Sichuan experience or western flavour such as Foie Gras, Cheese and Black Truffle Xiao Long Bao. We tried the black truffle ones (black), my baby took the cheese one (he is french!) and I took the spicy chicken one (orange). Well, what’s our verdict? We found the taste of the black truffle too subtle.. and at more than double the price of a normal one ($2.80, normal is $1.20), we say forget it and stick to the norm. The yellow xiaolongbao (cheese) is too subtle as well, but i quite like the spicy chicken. It taste a little like spic chicken soup, and reminds me of Ding Tai Fung’s chilli crab xiao long bao during a short period of promotion. Other than having 2 baskets of xiao long baos, we also had 2 very yummy dishes– asparagus with braised tofu and steamed sliced fish in soy sauce. The dishes are very basic chinese dish but done very well and fragrant. The latter is especially appetising with a sour chilli in soy gravy with tofu puff under the fresh slices of fish. We will definitely eat here again, but for the xiaolong bao, I would say for texture it gets 9/10, but a stronger tasting soup broth will be preferred.
