It was a rainy day and we had some crave for Tom Yam soup while shopping at Illuma. There was no specific Thai restaurant which I can recall of except for Thai express in the Vicinity. Therefore we decided on Thai express for dinner. There was no specific Thai restaurant which I can recall of except for Thai express in the Vicinity.
Therefore we decided on Thai express for dinner.
We were greeted with a great smile before the waiter show us to our seat.
Since it was my birthday month, I signed up for their Membership card for $30 which comes with:
1 x $10 Regular Voucher
1 x $15 Birthday month voucher
1 x 1-For-1 Maincourse Voucher(For use on Mon-Thurs only)
and 1 x free drink of your choice upon signing up + 10% Discount on bill.
Sounds like a great deal isn't it?
For the food Menu, we ordered our our usual Curried Soft Shell Crab w/ Rice. ($10.90++)
Great standard as usual. Gravy was nice and crabs are clean fried to perfection.
Sanook Set $8.90++
Great value - Comes with 2 pieces of fried tofu w/fishcake paste, Tom Yum Seafood Soup, Rice and a Tapioca dessert. Soup was good as usual, the rest are rather decent.
Fried Fire Noodle (Or something)
Beware! This noodle is extremely hot and spicy!
They are serve with dried chili flake and peanut by the side.
If this is the first time you are having this, try if you can take the normal noodle before considering to stir all the condiments into the noodles.
Well fried and seasoned - You'll appreciate this if you can take chili well (I mean especially well!)
Drinks:
Avocado Milk Shake
Listed as their recommended drinks. Extremely freshening with the heavy thai food.
Scent of avocado well blended with milk and fine ice. Must try.
Desserts:
Chendol
Their recommended deserts: Not your usual chendol with coconut milk over ice and sugar syrup.
Their chendol are ice blended with coconut milk (and skim milk I think). Thus it's not so 'jelut'. No red beans, but instead a kind of thai red pearl with a crunchy feel.
The ice blended are then added with Jackfruit slice for a tint of mild jackfruit fragrance.
Impressive chendol. If only they serve Gula Melaka here the chendol will be 10/10 for me.
But now I guess they deserve a 8.5/10 at least .
That is not all, I am extremely impressed by their warm hospitality and service.
Manager and crew were very friendly. Instead of the usual attentiveness you expect, they're chatty and they'll crack jokes with you and the impression make you feel that you're their long lost friend!
Best part of all - As I stood up, preparing to leave the restaurant after I paid the bills, all the crews focus their attention onto me and called my name to wish me a happy birthday!
The manager then handed me a surprise birthday gift with compliment from thaiexpress.
What a memorable experience.
