Loev the macarons here. They are not as big as Darcis' or as good, but they are pretty tasty! Especially the salted caramel. I always get the salted caramel macarons when I'm at Canele.The ambience is interesting. You can sit in dark coloured plush velvet chairs with high backs and people watch. Nice quiet place to hang out and chat.The service is VERY SLOW!! We ordered iced lemon tea and it took so long, we ordered another one, so 2 ice lemon teas came out after 20 minutes? The service is VERY SLOW!! We ordered iced lemon tea and it took so long, we ordered another one, so 2 ice lemon teas came out after 20 minutes? Surely they didn't have to make it from scratch? And it wasn't even busy at that time, with more than half the place empty! My water was topped up after I almost died of thirst. but at least it was topped up. The service is very polite but VERY SLOW. And there's a guy there that is all huff and puff and rather annoying - he doesn't seem to know what he's doing yet he acts as if he is in charge! Spoils the mood.
The crab salad was alright. The crab tasted rather fishy and the pieces were miserly and it seemed it came out of a can. Overall, there was too much dressing, so that it made my face drip with oil just from just eating it!
I think it's best to stick with the desserts. It's a colourful shop, very much like Bakerzin upstairs,with their brightly coloured desserts and boxes on display. The desserts here are better than Bakerzin's upstairs, but the mains are better at Bakerzin's.
