Chwee kueh, the little steamed rice cakes topped with preserved radish and chilli sauce, a perfect dish for breakfast or tea!Chwee kueh stalls are common in many hawker centres these days but some of them taste so typical as I see many branches of a chwee kueh franchise around the island.This Ghim Moh Chwee Kueh is different, I have eaten it for over ten years and it still tastes as perfect as ever. The rice cake is not the kind which you would find extremely soft but it is of the right texture.

The star of the show is the radish. I haven't been quite able to point out the star ingredient in this pot of pickled radish i see at the stall. It is so fragrant and it complements the kueh perfectly. This radish is on the salty side, I have eaten most which are slightly sweeter but this scores with that savoury kick.
I see the stall owners painfally stacking the little metal cup shaped containers and steaming them everyday.
Definitely a must eat if you drop by Ghim Moh Market! Always ask more more radish!!
