To continue my hunt for the best ramen (last stop: Keisuke Tori King; previous stops: Suzuki Ramen Bar, Ajisen Ramen), I visited Ippudo Ramen Restaurant at Mandarin Gallery. Suzuki and Keisuke Tori King was comparably good in terms of overall taste, but Ajisen Ramen was just horrible because it made me swear off ramen for a few years. :XThe interior design of Ippudo is sophisticated with light touches of quirky Japanese anime on one wall.The whole place is quite huge but it was nearly full house

I ordered the Akamaru Tamago Modern Tonkotsu ($19++).
Here! Food picture of Akamaru Tamago Modern Tonkotsu. It is really quite an amazing bowl of ramen. When I ate at Keisuke Tori King, I thought that nothing could be better, but Ippudo definitely topped Keisuke. The flavour of the soup is not as overpowering as Keisuke's, and the ramen itself was the mainstay of the whole ramen bowl... which is a better balance.
It does not look that appealing in terms of visuals... but once I started digging in, I was so absorbed into it that I could not stop even though it was so steaming hot. Usually I might wait for it to become less hot, but it was so addictive and I could not stop!
I was trying to catch a breath so I took a shot of this. The ramen had this springy texture, which I liked. *slurp slurp*
It's difficult to nitpick at it, perhaps with the exception that it was quite a small bowl. Or maybe my appetite expanded. I was only 70% full at the end of it. I would say that if you are looking for quality ramen to impress someone with, Ippudo is the choice. It is indeed a bit expensive for me. To settle my ramen cravings, I think Keisuke Tori King ($13++) or Suzuki Ramen Bar (around $15++) would make the cut.
