Many food spots during this era focuses a lot on food, and no doubt good food is important for a bistro. To-gather Cafe’s mission is more than just that; it’s purpose is to be a place where the young and old gathers to spend quality time together.The Grilled Pandan Chicken Chop ($8.90) comes with seasonal vegetables and fries as a side. The Grilled Pandan Chicken Chop ($8.90) comes with seasonal vegetables and fries as a side. Chicken was specifically marinated for the dish, and suggested that lemongrass could be one of the ingredients involved. This made the Pandan sauce go well with the chicken by inducing a coconut flavour within that made it feel more local. Honey sauce brought out a tinge of sweetness, which was enhanced with pineapple cubes for a refreshing taste. Fries were crispy and fluffy in the inside, while the salad was fresh.
Pork Corden Bleu ($10.90) is the variation of Chicken Cordon Bleu, which substitutes chicken with the use of pork. Unlike Chicken Corden Bleu, the Pork Corden Bleu was not rolled with ham and cheese contained inside, but rather having a pork cutlet sliced in the middle with ham and cheese stuffed inside. This meant that the pork did not achieve the same level of bounciness as the chicken, but it was still very tender. The golden-brown batter also stuck on to the cutlet perfectly. While the cheese was flowy, it was missing out on the stringiness and the taste was overshadowed by ham, which is likely to be caused by using cheese slices.
To end of the meal, we ordered a Chocolate Lava ($3.80) and it was great. Served warm, the chocolate within was thick and gooey as it flowed gently from the cake, and definitely sent us to Chocolate Heaven!
UCC Coffee is being served here, which ensures the quality of the coffee. The Long Black ($3.50) was strong without being too acidic.
