It has been quite some time since I last ate at Pizza Hut, and while I was aware that they had expanded their menu to include western fare as well, it was only during the recent Weekdays 1-for-1 promotion that I decide to pay it a visit again!We went on a Friday night for dinner. There was a long queue and the place was rather packed, but despite that, the staff served us promptly and we managed to find a seat quickly. We went on a Friday night for dinner. There was a long queue and the place was rather packed, but despite that, the staff served us promptly and we managed to find a seat quickly. Despite me wanting to try their new Truffle Mushroom Pasta or Chicken Podomoro, we both eventually decided to settle for the Hut's Chicken Steak.
Hut's Chicken Steak - $15.50 (1-for-1 Promotion)The food was served in a reasonable amount of time and looked visually appealing. I must admit that I did have rather high expectations for it, however, the taste was kind of disappointing. The chicken was quite fatty and the portion given was small. The mushroom sauce, with only one small miserable mushroom slice on both our plates, was rather average. The only thing I liked in this dish was the french fries, which were soft and fluffy inside. They tasted just the way I like my fries and were not as salty as most fast food fries are. On the whole though, we thought that the dish didn't justify the $15.50 price tag; but since it's on a 1-for-1 promotion, well....
Warm Chocolate Cake with Ice Cream - $5.90 (Promotional Price)I also got the Warm Chocolate Cake with Ice Cream at the promotional price of $5.90 (U.P. $6.90). The presentation was okay, but the taste made up for it. The cake was warm, moist and very chocolate-y and the vanilla ice cream complemented it very well. I did feel that the chocolate sauce inside the cake was sparse, however, parts of the cake where the chocolate sauce touched the cake tasted really awesome!
Overall, I think it'd safer to stick to their pizzas and baked rice (I tried the Chicken Ole baked rice some time ago and it was pretty good). It's worthwhile visiting it with a bigger group of friends during the 1-for-1 promotional period especially for the pizzas. Do also give the warm chocolate cake with ice cream a try!
