Finally! A German food place that doesn't serve pork knuckles!! Don't get me wrong, I love my meat. But a massive lump of pork deep fried half to death just doesn't really appeal to me! Gimme a nice sausage anyday!I gotta say that this place does a great hotdog! Apparently the German concept of the hotdog comes with the sausage separate from the bun. I gotta say that this place does a great hotdog! Apparently the German concept of the hotdog comes with the sausage separate from the bun. I ordered the German platter for one and got the following:
A sausage ( I don't know what type)
An egg fried sunny side up
A slice of meatloaf
Sauerkraut!
Some veggies pretending to be a salad
Mashed potatoes
At first I was a little skeptical if it was worth 8 bucks but it turned out pretty ok.
The sausage is really tasty, there's a depth to the flavor you don't usually get from hotdogs. A little smoky but juicy and BIG! Good mix of quality and quantity!
Surprisingly the star of the platter was the meatloaf! Looks a little like luncheon meat, but with a crispy crust and nice chargrill marks on the sides! The meatloaf had a texture that's totally different from what I expected. It's quite light! Went great with the yolk from the egg too!
Next time I'm gonna go for a double slice of the meatloaf!!
