The popular Ultimate Crab Feast has returned to Plaza Brassiere at PARKROYAL on Beach Road for the 5th year and will be available till 26th June 2016. Fans of the crustacean can anticipate a tantalising line up of crabs, prepared in 8 different flavours, that will send you on a licking spree!
In addition to the 6 evergreen flavours, Executive Chef Jackson Goh introduces 2 new flavours this year- Spanish Crab and Mediterranean Crabs. I especially love the latter, where bold flavours and spicy notes enthral the taste buds.
Other perennial favourites include: Chilli Crabs, Cereal Crabs, Honey Rock Crab, White Pepper Crab, Black Pepper Crab and Salted Egg Yolk Crab.
My favourite was the robust White Pepper Crabs with the creamy Salted Egg Yolk Crabs, a close second.
I like how the crabs were fresh, meaty and succulent. If you’re the type that go for pincers, there’s no need to dig around for the prized body part as every chopped piece of crustacean has one.
For a taste of India, don’t miss the Roti Pratas, flipped a la minute, paired with Crab Meat Masala. Superb!
Apart from crabs, the buffet also offer the usual works such as:
Chilled Seafood with an assortment of sauces ranging from wasabi mayo, sweet Thai and Salted Egg Yolk.
Sashimi is cut only upon order, hence maintaining pristine freshness.
Cooked dishes are Asian delights such as Nonya Chap Chay, Lamb Curry, Nasi Briyani, Roasted Duck and Roasted Pork Belly. Children will enjoy the Tempura Prawns and Fried Chicken Tenders.
Head for the Noodle Live Station, where the chef whips up a mean Prawn Noodle Soup. The broth was soo good, I could not resist having a second helping.
Desserts are mostly revolved around Asian flavours, with some creative twists. The Peanut Mille Feuille was a standout, while the hazelnut obsessed will take comfort in the Hollandaise Nutella Tart.
Apart from confection, the buffet also offers an series of chilled shot glass desserts (my top pick is the Oreo one), as well as hot and chilled Asian desserts such as Bubur Pulut Hitam, Green Bean Soup, Red Bean Soup, Cheng Tng, Iced Jelly Peach and Chin Chow Lychee.
The Ultimate Crab Feast buffet is definitely worth the calories (AND cholesterol), plus, the best part is that it’s only $68++ for lunch (Sundays only) and $75++ for dinner (daily). What excellent value!
