The restaurant promises “The Best Food in the Hood”. BBW is indeed a great place to hang out and the owners pride themselves for serving delicious and affordable food and great pairing of premium belgian beers with food. I must say I am very impressed by the selection of Belgian beers served in BBW, there aren’t many places that can boast that. I would like to highlight a particular dessert+beer pairing that impressed me a lot.
Bailey’s Chocolate Tart- a rich chocolate bailey’s ganache enclosed in a pastry shell, topped with nuts bits. It wasn’t too bad alone, but when paired with this Belgian Trappist beer:
The effect was mind blowing. The Trappist Rochefort 6 beer has an intense caramel, coffee like taste which complemented the rich bailey’s chocolate ganache. It intensified the chocolate flavour and gave a satisfying chocolate/alcohol aftertaste.Do not be afraid to ask the staff for recommendations on beer pairing with food. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful in this aspect. Wine lovers are not forgotten, BBW also serves wine and for children, root beer floats are available. The place has something for everyone in the family =) Do look out for it when you are around the Katong area.
