Alfero Artisan Gelato at Orchard Gateway #B02-06 got the most yummy Gelato Ice Cream on the island. With a voucher for $5, Mrupupup tried out the Gelato at Alfero Artisan Gelato.Mrupupup looked at the various tubs of Gelato. The tubs were chilled and hidden inside those tubs were various flavours of Gelato. There were flavours of hazelnut, durian (premium), chocolate, berries and many more. As we were trying to match the flavours for two scoops, Mrupupup ordered the Matcha Green Tea and yuzu flavours. These two flavours - one sweet (matcha) and the other a bit sour (yuzu fruit). The combinations was yummy and smooth. With the voucher, mrupupup paid only $0.90 of the $5.90 price. Mrupupup also had a nice seat inside the shop which was crowded on a weekday night. People were just chatting over the Gelato and having a good time. Oh, taken from the table-note about Gelato as compared to normal ice cream, Gelato contains all natural ingredients which gave a richer & smoother taste and had lesser fats than ice cream! Jamie's Italian Restaurant opened in Vivocity Singapore (1 Harbourfront Walk). This restaurant was opened by the famous Jamie Oliver, British Chef that cooks Italian dishes on TV.As Mrupupup is big foodie, so must try Jamie's Restaurant, first in Asia. The new restaurant offered Italian dishes such as salads, breads, pasta and antipasta. The pasta noodles are made on site daily and using fine fresh produce. The place had an open kitchen and alfresco dining area.Mrupupup went in without early booking for a seat at the restaurant. The staff said 45 minutes on a weekday evening 7.30pm! Super long wait! Mrupupup saw the waiting list, at least 10 reservations more for the evening. As Mrupupup was about to leave at the 15 minute mark at their waiting area because could not wait anymore, suddenly the waiter said ok ok go ahead! Wow, Mrupupup wondered that evening that this was a delay tactic or marketing gimmick to make people wait so as to feel more hungry for a chance to eat at Jamie's? Anyway, Mrupupup went in and had a nice red seat.Overall verdict: Expensive food - Overall, food was plausible (maybe not use to the Italian style of food). Service staff were good because got good seat and they did explain the dishes! Good ambience - think because got many people. Mrupupup thought might not be worth paying for the meals. Can try this place if you got money - prepare to pay at least $30-$50 per person.Menu ordered Crab spaghetti $25 (large portion)Portion was large size (but not really big in quantity) and little shredded crab meat too. Mrupupup felt that it was a crab spaghetti but tasted like prawn noodles. Mrupupup 'soften' the taste with lots of shredded cheese. Not worth the price.Vongole pasta with clams in wine sauce $17 (small portion)Vongole pasta with clams was good because the portion was just nice and loved white wine sauce that went well with the clams! The Ramen Monster shop is a Japanese Ramen Noodle shop on the ground floor of Novena Square Velocity (238 Thomson Road Novena Square Velocity #01-53). The ramen restaurant was a small place with very colourful comic murals. Mrupupup ordered regular size of Tonkotsu Ramen $8.90. The shop also sells type of other ramen (menu below). Good that there was no service charge & GST on the menu prices. The colourful wall mural made up for an interesting eating experience and the ramen took about 6 minutes to arrive. The ramen noodle here was tender & chewy and it was good. Mrupupup got a choice of regular fatty or lean char siew meat. The wonderful thing was the shop gave one full egg with nice yolk inside! The soup was yummy and the best thing was it had no MSG!!!!! Mrupupup hates the after taste of MSG which makes one super in need of water after eating ramen. Some shops in Singapore selling ramen could have so much MSG that Mrupupup would be in need of water for the whole day! Signature Tonkotsu Ramen - Mrupupup drank every drop. Slurp!!! Mrupupup felt not thirsty indicating that the soup was pure goodness without any silly short cuts in making the soup. Mrupupup ordered a bowl of Pork Ribs Prawns Bee Hoon Mee dry version at Sims Place Prawn Noodle stall located at Bendemeer Hawker Centre. The Pork Ribs Prawn Bee Hoon Mee dry was great and the pork ribs were cooked till nice and tender. However, the prawns were a bit small in size. The accompanying soup was rich and tasty and came with the natural taste from the prawns shells and pork ribs. The fried spring onions and lard was added into the noodles to make it even more fragrant. The prawn soup came with a generous portion of bean sprouts! Hope you like bean sprouts! The PriceReasonably priced at $4 for Mrupupup's portion - servings think could be bigger. OverallMrupupup would like to try this stall again but there is a queue! The little Japanese Ramen eatery, Keisuke Tonkotsu King Ramen, satisfied my huge craving for Ramen (Japanese noodles). The little squeezy 18 seater ramen shop is located at Orchid Hotel. Daily queues of at least 30mins are common for the evening meal at Keisuke Tonkotsu King Ramen. I ordered the Ramen (about $14) per bowl and slurped it all up. The unique thing about this shop was that it served boiled eggs and customer could have as many eggs one could eat. The ramen was very good with a delicious soup base, golden egg yolk and nice piece of pork char siew. Creamier café and ice cream place made me happy! Creamier served up one of the best handmade ice cream ever tasted in my life. I tried out the handmade berries, orange vodka cranberry, chocolate and Horlicks flavour. Each flavour varies in price range from $3 to $3.40 per scoop and $5-$6 for two scoops. I felt that the ice cream are of high quality using the freshest ingredients! I tasted every single mouth full of ice cream and enjoyed every bit of it! I loved the orange vodka cranberry flavour which had a light refreshing taste! Yummy! The place also had a nice decorative touch using many arts pieces. I had a wonderful time at Kkongdon BBQ at Djitsun Mall! Never knew Kkongdon BBQ served a great barbeque time. Kkongdon BBQ has 70 branches in Korea and 4 in Singapore. I had a beef and pork set at $12.80 ++ per person. Had a fun time grilling the beef and pork. The set also came with free salad bar, unlimited servings of lettuce and bowl of sweet & sour soup. I loved the taste of BBQ beef and pork on the piece of lettuce. I had so much vegetables today that it was a personal record of eating vegetables in one day (haha!). The Kkongdon staff at Djitsun mall was good and they even changed the BBQ plate after it had too many black stains from grilling the meats. Yummy! The Factory is westernised food place located at 22 Lim Tua Tow Road, Singapore (near Kovan area). The place serves up western dishes like artisan french fries (skinny or thick version) with interesting dips, ice creams in many flavours, pasta and many more. Mrupupup went to the Factory on a weekday evening and the place was quite filled up with young trendy people. Mrupupup ordered their beef lasagne with thick artisan french fries which came with a cheesy dip (about $13). Mrupupup also ordered a waffle with ice cream (about $6). Well, taste good for both dishes. The thick fries with cheesy dip was nice (warning: very cheesy only for cheese lovers). Hot waffle with ice cream tasted pretty good on a weekday evening. Anyway, the place was busy and noisy with many conversations going on. Ambush is a restaurant that serves pretty nice Europrean food. Ambush is located at Plaza Singapore (at the new wing), Singapore. Mrupupup missed European food from countries like France and Belgium. Ambush restaurant's food dishes reminded Mrupupup of Europe. Sighzzzz...... Mrupupup thought of the days travelling through Europe. Mrupupup ordered escargots (snails) (about $7), pots of mussels ($15) with thick french fries (so like Saint Malo in France) and sausage platter with rostii (about $14). Totally satisfying meal! The sausages were great and came in three flavours - mushroom, pork and chicken. The mussels in a pot was so similar in style as the one Mrupupup ate in a village restaurant in Saint Malo. Mrupupup 'cleaned' up all the mussels and the white sauce that came with it. The escargots were nice in olive oil too. Mrupupup visited the new Tamoya Udon outlet at Liang Court Shopping Mall- first floor. The place sells handmade udon with yummy broth from the home of udon (Sanuki, Japan) with freshly made and very nice tempura items like prawn, vegetables, mushroom, eggplant, sweet potato and many more. You can also try their Japanese potato croquette. Tamoya was established in the home of udon, Sanuki in Japan. Tamoya Singapore is their first overseas outlet. Mrupupup was curious when there was a long queue outside Nam Nam Noodle Bar at the basement of the Raffles City Shopping Mall. Mrupupup waited for the chance to try the Nam Nam Noodle Bar Vietnamese food - a casual food bistro by Les Amis Group. Well, pretty nice food. Mrupupup liked the beef slices pho noodle soup (range $7-$9 for pho soups) and the pork belly bun (more like pork slices in a large crispy croissant bread). There were other type of buns/bread filled with beef, pork or chicken ($6- $9). Pretty good and the best part was there was no MSG in the beef pho noodle soup. Well, the place was crowded and the chairs & tables were packed very closely to each other. Mrupupup could hear many conversations of work life, people gossiping of colleagues & friends, complaining of our stressful 'mouse' like existence on this small island and some happy moments between lovers. Mrupupup got to tell you - there in Blk 326 Serangoon Ave 3 is a coffee shop that has a very nice Zhi Cha store that sells good Chinese dishes. Zhi Cha means preparing food fried in a huge wok, very Singapore' style of eating. This coffee shop gets pretty crowded during meals times. Most of the people would be eating from the Zhi Cha store. Mrupupup tried out the Chinese dishes and had a great time with fellow friends. Dishes like mongolian pork ribs, seafood soup, fish in sauce, fried fish slices in a melon, fried rice, very tender chicken in cabbage leaves, yusheng dish and longan dessert. Mrupupup tried the Suckao chocolate drink at Max Brenner Chocolate Bar at Esplanade Mall Singapore (#01-08). First time tried the suckao. Well, this drink was special. It was like a chocolate drink but deconstructed by Max Brenner. The Suckao would be served with chocolate bits (dark type), milk, metal straw to suck and a pot to mix the milk and chocolate. The milk could be top 3 times. Add the chocolate bits to the hot milk, wait for the chocolate to melt. Once the chocolate melt in the hot milk, drink up! Enjoy the taste of your own chocolate drink. If you bored and could not wait, you could take a few chocolate bits and chew them to satisfy your chocolate cravings! Wooo.... Mrupupup had Texas Chicken at Nex Mall Singapore. Yummy fried chicken. Mrupupup loved Texas Chicken not only for their chicken, also for their biscuit. Really do not know how Texas Chicken chicken does it but the biscuit is really unique, buttery crispy on the outside, soft inside the biscuit and taste even better with mashed potato on it. Mrupupup had the No.1 set which came with 2 pieces of original fried chicken, biscuit and mashed potato and with coke (of course!) The set costs about $7.50. Mrupupup went to the Nex Mall outlet, well the place was a squeeze especially during peak hours of lunch or dinner. Mrupupup had satay at Satay Power (Stall No. 6) at Lau Pa Sat Festival Market located at Raffles Place, Singapore. Well, Satay Power stall did live up to its reputation and Mrupupup loved the juicy 'power' satay sticks of yummy meats. The satay sticks came with slices of beef, chicken and duck. First time Mrupupup tried duck meat on satay sticks. Each satay costs 60 cents per stick. Easily Mrupupup's group of friend spent $5 per person on eating satay with peanut curry sauce, onions and rice cakes. Yummy! Mrupupup also loved to see the satay man cooking over a hot charcoal oven to slowly cook the satay meat. Very nice! Satay is best with a good cup of milk tea (teh tarik!) or bandung (rose syrup milk drink!). Singapore is truly a food heaven on earth! Mrupupup just enjoy eating!
