Good burgers but don't expect Michelin standards!
&Made / L'Entrecote Express
2013-10-18
Tried this for restaurant week and the ingredients for Nice salad and Burgers are fresh. We enjoyed the NY Bacon burger and Lollipop Waffle but don't expect Michelin star standards so you won't be disappointed. To be fair, it is also not Michelin priced; the burger is decent at $21. Or try at the next restaurant week - 3 dishes at $35!The burger is yummy! Would go back to try other burgers after tasting this – traditional dry aged beef patty served with smoked bacon strips, with oozing mayonnaise, tomato, melting cheddar cheese, accompanied with crunchy lettuce and pickled cucumber. A beautiful calorific mess, with a pile of shoestring fries that one shouldn’t try to finish for health reasons; confirm food coma after from all that carbs! For more details and pics, pls see http://www.eatprayflying.com/burger-made-restaurant-week/.…Read More

Great Value for $$
瓊榮記海鮮
2013-10-16
Will go back and try the crab and other dishes. Very good value for $$. The dishes to try are the 1) Mingzhu roll, 2) Homecard Beancurd, 3) Garlic Sauteed vegetables. This is a very clean coffee shop that spans across a walkway. One section has air-conditioning and the other which we sat in is the al-fresco coffee shop style. Definitely good and economical for bringing parents and grandparents for a family meal.More details and photos at http://www.eatprayflying.com/tzechar-review-keng-eng-kee-seafood-restaurant-alexandra-village/…Read More

Very high quality french food at bistro price.
The French Ladle
2013-10-16
Very high quality french food at bistro price. Cosy ambience and great service. Must try!More details and photos at http://www.eatprayflying.com/special-bistro-review-french-ladle The chef has been cooking professionally since he was 17. Since moving to Singapore in 2006, he had worked in reputable kitchens of Swiss’otel, St Regis, Il Lido and Absinthe (under Chef Francois Mermilliod). Whenever I speak to Johnny, he is very proud that he cooks in the classical French way, also meaning preparing everything from scratch!!! This means taking up to 6 hours just to extract duck fat to use as a base for other dishes. Time-consuming for a restaurant only ran by 2-3 people but the food is oh-so-yummy!!! Most of my friends I have brought says French Ladle has the best:1) French Onion Soup2) Duck Confit3) Pot-Au-Feu, in Singapore.…Read More

Good coffee but price ($6)
Jewel Cafe and Bar
2013-10-16
We have been to Jewel a couple of times and have had nice long chats with the owner. So on Friday, I swinged by on the way back to office to grab cuppas for my team.Nice cosy ambience for chillout and if you need quiet place to work. Good for couples, students or working crowd. Coffee good, definitely in top 10 in singapore but I feel tad pricey for the location... Friendly staff and interesting drinks but I haven't tried the food. I generally prefer their flat white because it has strong nutty flavour, whereas the latte is tad too milky for me. Americanos have strong shots and very little in quantity! Decently near Farrer Park MRT too!For full review and more photos, please visit http://www.eatprayflying.com/cafe-review-jewel-cafe-and-bar/…Read More

One of the best new hipster cafes
Lola's Cafe
2013-10-16
Enjoyed the food quality, dessert and cider. will be back to try more! Good dish to try is the Sunny-Side Stacked Sandwich (8.5/10). This is 3 healthy toasted wholemeal bread, stacked with ham, tomato, cheese, avocado, bacon and a sunny side egg. It was yummylicious at $12, which is much more value than many other brunch places. But do be on time as it has a weird pre-queue system that will jump over ur reservation if u are late! Great selection of alcoholic drinks (both beers and ciders) and desserts. I will go again! For full review and more photos, please visit http://www.eatprayflying.com/new-cafe-review-lolas-cafe-simon-road-kovan/ …Read More

Coffee is decent but not the best in town.
The Bravery Cafe
2013-10-11
Personally find the coffee behind CSH, Broers but cool place to try once. Haven't tried the food though. More pics and details at http://www.eatprayflying.com/bravery-cafe/Long black – much more acidic than regular long black but strong flavor.Flat white – one of my favorites other than nylons and broers. Mildly sweet, very slight nutty flavor despite being Meiji milk (usually only get this flavor with greenfields milk). Milky but still has that slightly bitter coffee kick at the end.Latte – well balanced. Decently strong flavor although there is quite a lot of milk. Using genovese beans. But personally would prefer it with less milk.…Read More

Slightly expensive place but food quality is good
The Ascot
2013-10-11
We found the food quality esp the roast beef and Guinness pie good but it would have been really pricey without the palate promotion that gave us 33% off. More food pics and details at http://www.eatprayflying.com/new-restaurant-review-the-ascot-grandstand/Try the Roast Beef – weekend only special. Meat was well done but it’s the sauce that made the dish special. Potatoes were well cooked with sweet flavour but not overdone till it’s soggy. Yorkshire pudding on the side made it extremely British. …Read More

Great tasting food, Lousy service
茗香菜馆
2013-10-11
Definitely a good place to bring parents and grandparents. They will enjoy the food and ambience. More details and photos at http://www.eatprayflying.com/restaurant-review-beng-hiang-amoy/Must say was really good value for money for the acclaimed best Hokkien restaurant in Singapore! My favourite for the night – Braised White Cabbage (with Chinese vinegar) 红烧白菜! Cabbage was soft but fibrous. There were these fried fish bits that added good texture to the dish, plus the vinegar blend sauce was simply da bomb!…Read More

overall good quality but not the best in Singapore
松發肉骨茶
2013-10-11
overall good quality but not the best you can find in SG. more details and pics at http://www.eatprayflying.com/bak-kut-teh-review-song-fa-new-bridge-road/I can see why this is a tourist attraction - the decor of the place makes the place look historical, but cleaner version of course. It has a mezzanine where they put in fake windows that is reminiscence of Singapore’s humble shop houses of the past. The Bak Kut Teh is pepper-based (not herbal). We ordered the Premium Loin Ribs which were tender, good chewy texture and not too fatty. Enjoyed the soup as it was spicy but not till your tongue goes numb. W…Read More

Good quality but small servings
夏宮
2013-10-11
Would recommend to try once for good quality and refined taste but small portions for restaurant week and regular prices look expensive too.......... One plate of beef cubes usually is $68!!But good service and ambiance overall. Parents and grandparents will enjoy especially for special occasionssome of the dishes tried includes Braised Fish Maw Soup with Seafood and Egg White, Suckling Pig, Stuffed with Minced Shrimp and Almond Flakes, Chilled Birds’ Nest with Black Fungus and Vegetables and Steamed Scallops with Garlic and Glass VermicelliMore photos and details at http://www.eatprayflying.com/summer-palace-regent-restaurant-week/…Read More
