This is our first time having Pepper Lunch in a food court. There is a promotion for double beef rice at $6.90 which we think is cheap. All the meals come with a bowl of miso soup as well. We must say that the miso soup is good & tasted similar like those japanese restaurant miso soup. The preparation of the beef rice is pretty simple. The staff just need to put rice into the preheated hot plate & placed raw sliced beef around the rice & add some corn & drizzle with some sauce over. We just need to let the beef cook on its own & turned them slightly till cooked on both sides. Thereafter, drizzle sauces (garlic sauce/honey sauce are available at the stall counter, self services) over the rice/meat & mix them till combined. The beef becomes very flavourful after the sauces are added, very tender beef slices ;) Love the rice with the corn niblets, adding a little crunch & enhanced the flavour of the rice. Outback Steakhouse is where we usually go when we have cravings for steaks. We ordered our favorite ribeye with 2 sides (fries & sweet potato) & a Typhoon Bloom for our dinner today.All tables are served with a complimentary small chocolate loaf with butter. We love the extremely soft bread paired with the salted butter. It just makes you craves for more ;PTyphoon Bloom is a must to order if you love to eat onion rings. At Outback, the onions are hand cut, dusted with their very own seasonings, stacked high & cooked until golden. Oh wow, those crispy flavourful onions dipped in Outback signature bloom sauce, you can imagine how yummy & addictive they were! ;)Next, our main course - ribeye is cooked medium rare nicely. We love how the flavourful meat juices oozed out when we chewed on it. Heavenly! The fried sweet potato & fries were still hot & crispy. We had our tea break at New Zealand Natural Cafe this afternoon & each of us ordered a waffle with ice cream ($7.50). Although it was stated on the menu that the ice cream is vanilla, but the staff told us that we can actually choose the ice cream flavour ourselves! I had chosen mango passion ice cream to go with the waffle while my colleague chosen berries yoghurt ice cream. The waffles were very yummy (comparable to gelare)! Presentation is nice & looks inviting. What we love most were the crispy waffles, nicely paired with ice cream & honey drizzle & generous nuts sprinkles. Heavenly combination & addictive! =)  They also have chocolate lava cake with ice cream which look pretty delicious too. We had pork shabu tom yum ramen($14.90) & kumamoto ramen ($14.90) set with side dishes (choose one out of 12 items) cuttlefish & fish cake & 2 glasses of cold green tea. We ordered extra osaka ohsho cripsy gyoza. The gyoza fillings were very flavourful wrapped in a thin layer of skin. Best to dip the gyoza in vinegar before eating =) My hubby love the Cuttlefish very much as they were deep fried till very crispy! I love the fish cake as it resembles thai fish cake & are very yummy & chewy. Thumbs up for the side dishes!I love my pork shabu tom yum ramen. The pork shabu is sliced thinly, paired really well when eaten with the noodles & bean sprouts. I really don't mind eating this everyday The kumamoto ramen is very yummy too. Thick flavourful pork broth, meat is very tender also. Probably too much MSG is added to the soup, we felt quite thirsty after the meal. Overall, the food is decent & we will surely go back to try other dishes again :)…查看更多

This restaurant serves a variety of japanese food with reasonable prices. They had free flow of cold/hot green tea & complimentary hard boiled eggs for customers. We tried their Tsukemen this round for lunch. There are 4 types of soup base to choose from - orginal, black, spicy or tomato. There are also free upsize of noodles from 2x up to 5x for those super hungry ones. We ordered a orginal & black soup base Tsukemen. The taste was quite good but we find the soup not hot at all, just lukewarm & turns cold very fast due to the powerful airconditioning. The Cha Shu was very tender & flavourful, thumbs up for that. This is our first time dining here & we were totally disappointed. We needed to pay at the cashier before going into the restaurant. To our dismay, this place is not an aircon restaurant. Though there were fans around, but can you imagine eating steamboat & bbq for lunch around 12pm? Totally discomfort, hot & sweaty++ due to the scorching sun. All seats are placed outdoors with insufficient shelters and the unbearable heat that is coming out from the bbq & steamboat stove. The fans were also blowing hot air/fumes from other tables bbq stove from different directions. Thus we reckoned eating lunch is definitely a no no but was too late.We proceed to get some ready to eat food from cooked food section. There were glutinous rice, stir fry broccoli with mushrooms & baby corns, fried nuggets, fried prawns, herbal chicken, shark fin soup. The herbal chicken is quite tasty, the meat is tender & flavourful. We like the herbal chicken soup with a tinge of herbal taste. There is a sushi section with assorted sushi. Nothing special or worth mentioning as they were just basic sushi. We tried a few sushi but they were not very yummy, can't taste the usual vinegar in the rice & the rice was a bit hard. There were meat section, where different kinds of meat (chicken, beef, duck, chicken wings) can be found. All were marinated (black pepper, cajun, oyster, spice, etc) & put on big plates for people to take. As the meat were prepared & marinated in huge quantity, those meat on the top of the plate appears dry. We must say that the chicken satay were quite good, very flavourful & taste almost like those satay sold outside. The beef were not as good. We tried a few different beef flavours & they all had a bit of weird taste :( Chicken wings were all time favourites for bbq. Most tables including us ate quite a fair bit of the chicken wings. Well marinated wings!As for the steamboat, there were many ingredients to choose from. Sad to say that my favourite 'tau pok' & beancurd were not very fresh & had a sour taste after we tried them :( The fu zhou fish ball, mushroom balls, fish balls were not bad. There were free flow of drinks & desserts (fresh fruits, 'Cheng Teng', jellies, cream puffs, mini eclairs, mini cakes, assorted ice cream).The plates & utensils appeared to be not washed properly with stains. We had to wash them ourselves before they were fit for usage. I am really glad that I got a habit to look at my food before I consumed. Guess what did I find? Lots of dead ants & some still crawling in the pool of water where the ice cream scoop was being soaked! I showed my hubby & reminded him to pay attention to his food before consuming.We are not going back to this place again for dining definitely due to the poor hygiene & dinning atmosphere. Even though there were a variety of ingredients to choose from, but we believe the quality is more important than quantity. I should say this is the worst dining experience we had so far.…查看更多

We had tian wai Tian fishhead steamboat for dinner. Being a teochew, I prefer promfet to other fish in the steamboat. The promfet is quite fresh & chopped into pieces for easy eating. The soup has a tinge of ginger taste & there are huge chunks of yam & cabbage as well as a bit of seaweed. I must say the soup is very flavourful. The soup is refillable just in case you need more. However, we are both very thirsty after the meal. We wonder how much ajinomoto is added to the soup   On the whole, we still enjoy the steamboat. Of course, 黄埔庆鱼头卢 still remains as number 1 in our hearts ;)…查看更多

We wanted to try out a variety of food, so we ordered a total of 5 dishes for our dinner. The Thai mango salad is very refreshing, love the slightly sour mango strips paired with the crispy dried shrimps drizzle with sweet sauce with a bit of chopped red chili. Their combination platter includes rice crackers, Thai fish cake, spring rolls, satay with peanut sauce. I love their fish cake & satay particularly. Very flavourful & chewy fish cake while the chicken satay is soft & tender. The peanut sauce given is pretty generous!We love the crispy Tahu telok drizzled with the sweet peanut sauce. Simple addictive! Tom yum soup is my all time favourite. Love the fresh seafood (prawns, sotong, mussel) in the soup. A little spicy & sour soup which opens up your appetite & lets you craves for more! Eggplant with minced meat & basil is another awesome dish that you must try. Very flavourful dish, every bite is infused with the basil taste.The staffs are very attentive to our needs & prompt in their services. Thumbs up. Went to have our lunch at Hock Lam Beef. My hubby ordered a angus beef set meal ($15.90) which consists of a serving of braised Australian Angus beef paired with beef flavoured rice ($2.50), braised egg, firm tofu & completed with a serving of fruits. The beef is pretty good. Tender, juicy & flavourful. The little braised egg & tofu is really nice, soft & delicate. Very appettizing when eaten with rice & paired with the thick salty braised sauce.The rice on the other hand is cooked with beef broth for the extra beef flavour.I had beef noodles ($9.90) instead. I choose yellow mee (or kway teow / thick mee hoon) with beefballs & ribeye slices in herbal broth. You can choose beef tendon, brisket slices or even mixed beef depending on your preferences. The broth is very flavourful as it is stewed overnight in 13 herbs & ingredients. I love the tender ribeye slices & slightly chewy soft beefballs very much. I add on $2 to have a braised egg, a serving of fruits, salad & a drink which I think is quite worth it. Overall, we think the food is pretty decent & reasonably priced. However, the variety is very limited so I guess we may not return for dinning again.…查看更多

Went to jack's place with my family for lunch today & tried their set meals . The set meal includes soup of the day (broccoli), a slice of garlic bread, main course (choose either grilled chicken or sirloin steak), dessert of the day (panna cotta), complete with either a cup of tea/coffee. The broccoli soup was good & creamy with tiny bits of prawns in it. Love to dip the garlic bread into the warm soup to enjoy maximum flavours =) My mum & sister ate grilled chicken with orange sauce, mashed potato & broccoli while my father & I had medium rare sirloin steak, mashed potato & broccoli. The chicken is pretty yummy, tender & flavourful paired very well with the sauce. The steak however is not very delicious. I guess is due to the cut of the beef - too much tendon, making it too tough to chew & slice. We all love the mashed potato as it was very smooth & creamy. The broccoli on the other hand was a bit too hard. Panna cotta was served in a very small dessert glass, topped with red bean. It is a nice combination but I guess it will be even better if the panna cotta is softer. I guess I will not return to Jack's place for meals again. The set is considered reasonable & cheap but the food is not really that nice. …查看更多

This is our first time having a meal at Mado cafe. They serve western food, pastas & desserts (waffles, ice creams & cakes).We had a prime ribeye steak ($24.90) & chicken parmigiana ($16.90). The ribeye we had was 200g, medium rare. The ribeye was really tender, juicy & full of flavour with a tinge of herb taste. It comes with a big spoon of black pepper sauce & a bit of mustard with some salad & fries. Pretty presentation & very yummy! The chicken parmigiana was a southern Italian recipe- breaded chicken layered with cheese & tomato. The breaded chicken was fried till very crispy & goes very well with the melted cheese & tomato, very flavourful indeed. Unfortunately, we do not like the salad. The menu picture shows broccoli but we were served salad instead. I reckoned they ran out of broccoli? The salad dressing is not very nice, my hubby said it had a weird taste. Went to Cold stone creamery for our tea break after shopping around Orchard. This is my third time eating ice cream here. Previously, I tried their blueberry cheesecake ice cream & chocolate mint ice cream. This round I tried a 4oz ($6) chocolate ice cream mixed with a scoop of peanut butter & one Reese's peanut buttercup. I reckon notin is better than the combination of chocolate with peanut butter. Simply love that flavour! However, come to think of it, the price is a bit steep for that small cup of ice cream. Probably will not buy ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery anymore since I can always buy a tub of icecream & add whatever toppings I want. The chocolate ice cream they served tasted very ordinary, not thick & creamy enough.…查看更多

This is our first time to dine in at Shisen Hanten restaurant at 35th storey of Mandarin Orchard Hotel. We occupied the sofa seats & we must say the view outside was spectacular. We tried a few dim sums such as fry carrot cake, custard buns, fry prawn dumplings & char siew soh. We think the fry carrot cake is really awesome, full of flavours & paired with their special shallot oil, wow.. they are really to die for :) Custard buns are prety good, the fillings just 'burst' out as you bite into them. So fragrant & flowly, best eaten while they were hot! Fry prawn dumplings are piping hot & crispy when served to our table, pretty good as well though a bit oily. Char Siew soh pastry skin is a bit too thick, we still prefer canton Paradise version with fragrant butter pastry skin. We ordered Pipa duck, wagyu beef & fry mee as main. Wagyu beef was cooked medium rare which is really perfect for our taste buds, so tender & juicy. We highly recommend this dish :)Pipa duck is another awesome dish. It was all sliced up nicely on a big plate when served to us. The duck meat was tender & juicy with crispy skin attached. The flavour of the duck meat is enhanced as you dipped them into the sweet sesame sauce. Yummylicious we would say for this signature dish! The fry mee was pretty good & flavourful with fresh big prawns, scallops & fish. The only flaw is that this dish is a bit too salty.Its not a good meal without dessert. So we had fry red bean pancake as finale. Highly recommend this red bean pancake! Very crispy as you bite into them, bursting with smooth & sweet red bean paste. Really make you want to eat one piece after another. Overall, the food are really good but the prices are not so 'friendly' to our pockets. Its still a good dinning experience. We love to eat japanese food. Spotted this store at Takashimaya basement sometime ago & finally get to try today. Tried out one of their best selling product - Big Fry Vegetable & a Aburi Sashimi Salmon Don. I must say the big fry vegetable's price is a bit steep but we reckon their food must be good to earn the long queue & crowd. We were right, the fry vegetable is simply awesome! It was about a 6 inch round fry vegetables. Though it was no longer warm, the vegetables still tasted very yummy & crunchy. In fact, it tasted even better when compared to those being sold in restaurants! We highly recommend this big fry vegetables to all =)Their Aburi sashimi salmon don is another amazing dish. We can watch the chef prepared the dish on the spot. He was quick in his fish slicing skills & marinating the sashimi. Thereafter he topped the simple bowl of rice with a generous helping of the marinated sashimi & sprinkled some white sesame & spring onions on top. It's first day in 2015 & my mum is lazy to cook dinner so we 'tabao' 'zi char' back. We bought a total of 6 dishes ($45) - salted egg sotong, cereal beancurd, garlic pork, hor fun, fry hong kong noodles & fry hokkien noodle.All of us think that the dishes were cheap & yummy. The salted egg sotong is my favourite. Sotong is fry slightly but is soft & chewy as you bite into them. Simply love the flavours as they are coated generously with salted eggs. Cereal beancurd are cut into strips, fry & coated with cereal. Very cripsy outside & yet soft inside, paired with the slightly sweet cereal coating, wow.. it is indeed addictive! ;)My mum love the garlic pork on the other hand. Though the pork is not that cripsy but is really tender & flavourful, very appetizing dish I would say! Fry Orh Fun, Hong Kong noodles & Hokkien noodles are quite common 'zi char' dishes but they really tasted delicious. Frankly speaking, we often feel thirsty after eating zi char outside, but amazingly we do not have such problem this round. On the whole, great food with reasonable prices.
