I was at Ang Mo Kio Hub and there was a Chinese New Year cookie roadshow. Many of the vendors mainly from Heartland confectionary or factory participated in the roadshow.

The store which I stopped by was Dora Keiki. The pricing of the Heartland Confectionary is much cheaper than the stalls participated at Takashimaya. The price ranges from $15.80 and below. I consider the pricing is reasonable.

At Dora Keiki, I tasted the pineapple tart. It was soft and butter flavour was not heavy. Otherwise, the butter flavour could have overshadowed the pineapple filling and makes no meaning to have the pineapple filling. The pineapple tart is big and heavy.

The next item which I tasted was the green pea cookie. Instead of flour, green pea has replaced flour. Having green pea as flour base will make a healthy eating choice. However, gout eater will have to take note.

The love letter was thin and long. It does not break easily and leads to no waste of love letter droppings.

I love the pineapple tart and the green pea as they do not have butter flavour.

At Woodlands Xchange located at Woodlands MRT, you can find a number of shops selling Japanese snacks and confections. One of them is Dora Keiki, which specialize in dorayaki, mochi and several other Japanese cakes and confections. This easily makes them one of my favourite shops at this stretch. Since then, they have expanded their product offerings to include other confections like daifuku and even muffins! Not that I have any complaints about that.

Dorayaki ($1.50)
This was served chilled and the pancake was quite soft with a decent portion of thick filling inside. I've tried Chocolate, Oreo Cheese, Chocolate Cheese, Custard and Red Bean and my favourite was chocolate which was quite chocolate-y, although I thought Chocolate Cheese and Custard were pretty good too. There were also quite a variety of other flavours like Strawberry, Mango and Durian so there's bound to be a flavour you like!

QQ Mochi ($1.20) - Right Row
Like the Dorayaki, these QQ Mochi were chilled and also came in an array of flavours . As usual, my favourite was the Chocolate. This mochi was kind of bread-like and not the sticky glutinous rice kind which I was expecting, but on its own, it was tasty and also quite chewy. My favourite part of the mochi has to be the filling inside, which was smooth and rich, especially for the chocolate, and the portion was quite generous too. Yummy!

Japanese Daifuku ($1.20) - Left Row
This came in some different flavours from their Dorayaki and QQ Mochi range, like Strawberry Mousse and Red Bean Cheese. I got the Matcha Red Bean, Chocolate Red Bean and Custard Red Bean to try. The daifuku was probably the only item on their menu where my favourite flavour was not Chocolate but the Matcha Red Bean. This was smooth and chewy and there were two layers of filling inside, one of which was red bean, which was just the right amount of sweetness for me!

Hokkaido Cake ($2.50)
These Hokkaido cakes felt like sponge cakes and were quite soft with a generous amount of filling in it and icing on top. I opted for the Custard and Hazelnut flavours, of which I preferred Custard. The flavours were not as strong as I'd have liked but was decent enough to make this a light but enjoyable treat.

Muffin ($1.50)
I was surprised to see these muffins popping up in their display counter one day but these looked pretty good so I got the Chocolate and Walnut to try. These were quite moist and my favourite was Chocolate, which had bits of melted chocolate inside the muffin when it was heated and was deliciously rich and chocolatey!

I have also tried several other items here like the Waffle, Belgium Scone and "Dragon Egg" and found that most of their items tend to sit well with me so far. It was hard to choose a favourite at this shop because there were just so many I liked, but if I had to choose one, it'd probably be their QQ Mochi, although I also enjoyed the Dorayaki, Daifuki, Hokkaido Cakes and Muffins. It also helped that the confections came in an array of flavours but I personally tend to go for Chocolate.

The prices were also quite reasonable and they have discounts if you buy in bulk, not to mention that you'll also get a pretty packaging, especially for the dorayaki! The service was also pretty decent and the counter staff were friendly, smiley and polite each time I were there. Overall, I think Dora Keiki is worth a visit. I'm certainly keeping my eyes on this shop for new releases in the future!

I ventured to this corner shop to get some breads to buy back. This shop sells pancakes, muffins, cakes and other baked goods. I got their dome-shaped "dragon eggs". Quite a cute name and aptly-named too. Anyway i ordered the Cheese and Green Tea Red Bean but i don't know what happened and i got two Green Tea Red Bean. Right. So I am not a big fan of green tea. Oh well. (It's also miscommunication on my part.) One cost $1.20.Nonetheless i tried a bit and though the green tea flavour is there, ve

Nonetheless i tried a bit and though the green tea flavour is there, very distinct, it's still acceptable. Probably cause it's just sponge and so i can still try to finish it. Not bad. The red bean is only those littered on top of the bun. I was expecting red bean cream inside the bun but don't have. Still it's quite a light dessert. I would definitely be interested to try their other flavors and also their Japanese pancakes.

The cakes are quite soft and nice. But, the filling inside the cake is rather stingy and thus, you can't really taste the filling inside.

Came across a Dora Keiki stall at a recent mooncake fair and saw a huge display of chiffon cakes, hokkaido cakes and other pastries. There were samples available for tasting and this Orange almond chiffon cake $5.50 impresses me with its pleasant citrusy flavor, and I bought one home to try.The ultra soft and fluffy cake has a strong orangy flavor with roasted almond topping that complemented well with the light as air cake, very delish!

The moment i walked pass the bakery, I was drawn to it by the number of varieties they have. Most of them are very much linked to or contain cheese, surprisingly. I bought a simple cheese sausage bun and it was a little warm. I like how the bread isn't too oily or greasy like some would be. The bun is fluffy and pretty decent. It taste pretty fresh too! This shop at the mrt station sells mainly Dorayaki (銅鑼燒) and Hokkaido cakes. Hokkaido cakes 北海道蛋糕 have been the craze for many months. Besides the original flavour, it also sells durian flavoured ones which costs $2 each. The cake is like a cupcake, nothing particularly interesting to look at in appearance, a bit wrinkly, uneven, and even has cracks on the surface and has a hole in the centre from piping the filling.
