Cute Cafe. Menu is not bad. Food is okay. Truffle fries are good but it is $15. Servings are pretty big but it's because it is pricey too. Gets busy by noon and afternoon.

Full PS. Cafe review: http://ivanteh-runningman.blogspot.sg/2015/02/ps-cafe.html

Established in 1999 as part of the Projectshop clothing store, PS. Cafe soon gained a following of its own for its relaxing, casual, yet elegant ambience, and generous portions of food. Early on though, the quality of food and service was inconsistent, as several of my visits during the early part of the 2000s left a bad impression, and I swore off PS. Cafe for several years. This valentine's however, she decided on PS. Cafe, and I'm glad to say the experience went well.

Ambience at PS. Cafe is casual, yet elegant and relaxing. The chic look of Projectshop has carried over, with dark wooden panelling and beams overhead, comfortable wooden furniture, along with low ambient lighting, accentuated by bright spotlights at night, or natural sunlight during the day. There is a certain charming lushness of the countryside at PS. Cafe, due to the use of plants, and the spaciousness of the interior is thoughtfully crafted to still allow for private conversations and small enclaves. PS. Cafe is perfect for romantic dates!

Service at PS. Cafe is professional and friendly. Staff greet and seat you with a smile, are proactive in offering drinks or desserts, knowledgable on the menu, and able to make recommendations. I like that the service standards are close to a fine dining establishment, with staff coming around to ask for feedback and check on your meal. Food is also served rather quickly. Very good! Menu descriptions are comprehensive and apt, but I wish PS. Cafe could have included pictures in the menu as well.

Food at PS. Cafe is best described as modern European, with a mix of influences from American, British, French, Italian, and Singaporean cuisines. PS. Cafe is known for their large, generous portion sizes, and sharing is recommended. Generally, food is well prepared and tasty, and dishes are well balanced, with rustic country style plating and presentation. Prices tend to be rather high, as befits the standards here, budget about SGD $55 per person for a meal.

The Crab Tart (SGD $32) resembles a quiche, with delicate hand deshelled blue swimmer crab meat baked in a buttery shortcrust pastry shell, along with kaffir lime and chili. The result is a light, delicate pastry, where the crust crumbles away when cut, and the generous portion of spiced crab meat within releases a fragrant aroma. Served with a fresh garden salad, a yummy prawn bisque gravy, and spicy home made harissa chili.

The Vodka Cheng Teng Cocktail (SGD $19) is inspired by the classic Singaporean dessert of Cheng Teng. Featuring dried longans, white fungus, barley, red dates, and ginko nuts, infused with vodka, the initial taste is exactly the same as a cold cheng teng, followed by the stronger taste of vodka. Pleasant and refreshing.

It’s nice to just come by Palais again after it has been revamped with new shops and dining establishments. It’s away from the hustle and bustle of the prime shopping scene so it’s really a nice place to dine in peace.

This was like a non-alcoholic version of a mojito which was really refreshing with a citrusy punch from the lime and a slightly menthol taste from the mint leaves. However I found the drink a tad too sweet for me after mixing it up as the sugar syrup sat right at the bottom. The husband had to help me gulp down a big mouthful of it (his tolerance of sugar was way high!) so I could mix in some ice water just to dilute it.

I liked the texture of this thick and creamy mushroom soup which didn’t taste too starchy and heavy. I wished it was more mushroomy as there was heavy usage of cream that kind of masked the lovely earthy aroma of portobellos. It was still a decent mushroom soup as compared to many other places but I’d still prefer the one from Muddy Murphy’s which was to die for.

This was probably one of the best crab cakes I’d ever eaten. Not just the crab cake alone but the sauce was pretty good too. One bite of this perfectly fried crab cake and I was sold. It was full of sweet and juicy crab meat, so fresh and so delicate. The breaded crust exterior was crispy but not overly greasy. And the tomato chilli sauce really resembled the sauce from seafood restaurant’s chilli crabs which was more on the sweet than spicy side. Nicely executed.

While I thought the earlier mushroom soup was mediocre, this mushroom sauce was slightly more palatable than expected and went well with the bland beef which was also a little dry. The meat was done medium (but some parts were rare which I didn’t appreciate) and somehow it was just more chewy than tender. It could do with a darker crust too. It was as though this steak had been cooked on a pan that wasn’t hot enough, that’s why juices were not sealed in as the sides were not seared quickly. Anyway this is really not a place for steak frites. For the same price or cheaper, I could easily get a better one at Les Bouchons or L’Entrecôte.

The husband ordered their signature burger which looked quite impressive. Chargrilled Wagyu and US Chuck Patty topped with gruyere and mozzarella cheese, tomato slices, mesclun greens, sauteed mushrooms and spiced crispy onions. I took a bite of the burger and really liked it because of the different dimensions of the various ingredients. In the end, the husband gave me half of his burger and he ate my steak as he loved his meat anyway. I loved how thick and juicy the beef patty was. Full of meaty goodness. And the gooey cheese on top was just tantalizing. I wasn’t a big fan of the heavily battered onion rings though as they oozed oil when I bit into them. Comparing with the steak, this was definitely the better of the two.

It was never go wrong to have fried stuffs, chicken fillets were freshly crispy and mouthful tender. Chunky moist definitely, it was best eaten while dipping it with Mayonnaise and Chilli sauce. Thicker version fries at the bottom, there was also veggies as dressing inside the basket. I think price was quite hefty for such small portion, approximately $26.00.

More often than not, Banana was good-paired with Chocolate. PS Café did their creation to add on Cheese along, uniquely impressive. Banana was infused into Cheesecake, Chocolate on the other hand stood alone as top fudge layer. Bitterness of dark cocoa balanced up the sweetness and cheesiness, thumb up. Price was $13.90 per slice, we shared. Frankly speaking, PS Café perhaps didn’t serve the best food in town but I would say it was a perfect place for sluggish afternoon. Might try out their Brunch next round, I am looking forward.

We went to the PS. Cafe after having heard much about this place

Upon arriving, i really like the cozy environment.
There was the lovely cakes display at the counter that i had a good look at before we got our seats and went in.
We sat indoor, there's the alfresco seating too.
The interior was quite dark, lit by a small lamp on each table.
We ordered the truffle fries $15 (much raved by my friends), Spicy char grilled prawn cocktail $21 and the Miso Cod $36 to start off our meal.
The fires came first, all hot and yummy looking!
Portion was quite big

Truffle fries made with truffle oil, truffle salt and Parmesan cheese what's there not to love!!!
The prawn cocktail came next, with the prawns being very fresh and grilled to perfection

It was served with garlic bread, avacado salsa and chili bbq sauce!
Didn't really like the avacado salsa and chili bbq sauce, i find it a tad too spicy so spicy lovers this one is for you

The Miso cod was great, very fresh and tasty, not too salty as i thought since it had miso

This is a great healthy dish served with lots of healthy greens!
To wrap up our meal, we had their deserts!
I ordered the chocolate cake which caught my eyes at the display!
It was served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which i find it a tad too small in comparison with the cake.
Reason being, the ice cream finished before the cake so it can get too sweet for liking with just the cake

But i really have to give this thumbs up being one of the most tasty chocolate cake i ever had

Lucky we had their lemon meringue pie which is kind of sweet and sour to counter the chocolate cake

I love pie crust like this so thumbs up for this dessert too

This was quite a pricey place. Be prepared to spend quite a bit here (Check out my photo on the menu to have a sneak peek).
I would recommend this place for special occasions, paying for the quality food and the warm cozy environment

My second visit to PS Cafe but first visit to this outlet. Been to the Dempsey outlet and was a happy diner there, but it is otherwise for this outlet. The staff there refused to give us the dinner menu when we asked for citing it was tea time at that moment we were there, and did not treat us the way good service establishments should treat their customers. We were asked to leave within a certain time limit, afterwhich were asked to be moved to another table (after we finished our meal but still sitting around chatting with drinks) giving us the reason that customers are waiting for our table. Isn't it more logical to move new customers to empty tables (where there ARE still empty tables around) instead of asking us to move to another table?? That's really ridiculous reason! And we felt uncomfortable with such service or no service I should say.

Anyway, three of us shared the Truffle Shoestring Fries, King Prawn Aglio Olio, the Catch of the Day, Double Chocolate Blackout Cake and Dark Choc Banana Cheesecake, two drinks and spent a total of close to $160.

We loved the Truffle Shoestring Fries, the serving was huge but I feel it should be, for that $15 high pricetag. The fries are very addictive, once we start we cannot stop! I personally like the King Prawn Aglio Olio, especially the aglio olio, it's springy and cooked al dente, I must say I really like their pasta. The Catch of the Day was a grilled salmon, we had thought it will be just salmon, but to our pleasant surprise, beneath the salmon was a small portion of delish spaghetti in cream sauce. The creamy and flavourful spaghetti sort of stole the show from the salmon, we were more attracted to it than the salmon.

The cakes are good as well, I like the Double Choc Blackout Cake with ice cream in particular, very rich and sinful. The Choc Banana cheesecake is satisfactory too. Their cakes are on a average price of $12 and are quite big, but I would most probably think twice about ordering more than one because of the high price.

Food was indeed good, I must say, we enjoyed the two main dishes and the two heavenly cakes. But good food is not everything, with such bad service and attitude, there is no way I will be back again, at least to this outlet. Furthermore, the food there although good, are seriously expensive and overpriced! For that kind of price, I can find other places with equally good food and great service.

PS Cafe @ Palais Renaissance is great for a chill out lunch. I was seated at the outdoor balcony seat and the view with the sunshine is great for a relaxing afternoon.I guess the reason why they call this a Leftover lasagna is because there is a wild mix of ingredients in it. There's a bunch of vegetables like broccoli, spinach(?), meatballs, Penne pasta, mushroom among others..The whole lasagne is stuff with ingredients, definitely well worth for money.

My Main - lulu's leftover lasagne, which consists of layered ground beef lasgne topped with vegetables, spicy caramelized meatballs, penne pasta with chunky tomato sauce and cheese. I find it rather average and it gets abit too sticky when the dish turns cold. Also i couldn't finish it as halfway through i feel sick after eating it. Probably it is due to the cheese. Overall, i do not recommend this dish.

Of the three times I’ve had the heap of truffle fries arrive at my table, there wasn’t once when my eyes didn’t twinkle on behalf of my nose. Some people reckon truffle oil smells like gasoline while tasting like garlic. I would agree on the latter and love it all the same and unless heaven smells like gasoline, I think I may be on a different page about that.

Each time I order it, I forget how big the serving really is. You’d need four stomachs to clean the entire plate (Here’s where being a cow comes in handy.) so it’s a tremendously good portion for sharing.

While I think the price tag on the Chicken In A Basket is quite hefty, it certainly does pack up a punch in flavour, armed with hypnotic powers to convince you that the $26 is incredibly worth it.

Chicken in a Basket (SGD $26++)
A pretty decent dish, with lightly breaded chicken tenders, fries, veggie sticks and 2 different type of sauces. The fried chicken is good, very crispy and tasty. However, i find this too expensive for just chicken tenders and fries.

Overall, this restaurant has very good ambience. This will be the main reason to patronise this place again.

It has been a long time since I meet up with my this group of poly friends and so today we are meeting for lunch/high tea at PS café.We ordered this PS chicken in the basket to share, we all feel that this is quite nice, thou it's deep fried but the chicken pieces are tender and well marinated.King prawn aglio olio, quite ok with huge prawns and the pasta is quite tasty.Miso cod, I did not try this dish but no complains from my friends and so I think should be ok.
