Swatow has dim sum buffet everyday between 3-5pm. It is always very crowded, therefore, it is best to make reservation first before patronising. It is a push cart style, like the hong kong style. So you just have to stop the person and order what you want from the waiter's push cart. This is one of the best dish! Glutinous rice wrapped with lotus leaf! Saw promotion for its hi-tea on newspaper - $5 off buffet per person. so decided to give it a try. Especially love to eat their meat dumplings, which the meat inside is very tender and juicy. THe skin is also very smooth as well.

Although there is 1 dish that is quite different from normal chinese restaurants. Its the Beehoon wrapped thingy with durian mayo on it. Special isint it? I forgot the exact name of the items that we ordered but it was worth the price

beancurd skin roll is not bad too. The sheet roll is filled with minced meat and prawn, and simmered in the rich oyster sauce. The roll absorbed the flavourful gravy, love the juiciness when you bite on it.

The prawn rice roll is a bit disappointing though. The rice roll is kind of too thick, the soy sauce gravy is alright, but the prawn inside is tasteless! It would be so much better if prawns are marinated before put in the rice roll.

We also ordered another type of dumpling, which I don't actually know the name. It has the yummy prawn filling as well, with the additional dried scallop topping, more luxury and savoury in a sense. Yummy!

Char siew pastry is another recommended dimsum. The char siew filling is sweet and thick, together with buttery pastry, awesome combination with pleasant taste. Love the hint of sesame fragrant too.

The salted egg custard bun is quite good. Watch out when you have it, the runny filling might turn out pretty messy. The savoury of the salted egg yolk, butter and sugar is sinfully good.

One could also order the ala carte dishes from the meal menu after 11am. We had the oyster omelette ($15). The oyster is served separately in the spicy sauce, which is fantastic, as it won't make the crispy batter turns soggy.

Remember to eat the oyster omelette with the chilli dip and fish sauce, which definitely enhances the whole flavour by heaps!

This is my mummy's favourite dish. The tofu was smooth and firm while the taste was just simple as the restaurant choose to add less luxurious ingredients.

Steamed Prawn is a very light and healthy tasting dish since not much oil is used in the preparation of this dish. The prawn was fresh and was not over-cooked. That's why the prawn was tender and solid.

One of the chef recommended dish which their pork was deep-fried and then mixed up with the sweet and sour sauce. Perfumed by the aroma of tomatoes, the pork was delicious.

Nothing much special, the fish was steamed, I was able to taste the freshness of the fish. Unfortunately, the fish was steamed a bit too long thus the meat was a bit tough for me.

Overall, my parent quite satisfied with the dishes ordered. However, we had no chance to try the popular Deep Fried Pig Trotter which was served with a sweet plum sauce on the side. Maybe save it for next time.

Quality of Dim Sum seems to have improved from my previous visit a couple of months back. Recommended items: Har Gao (shrimp dumpling with fresh prawns), braised pork ribs, steamed chicken feet, fried carrot cake - all quite tasty.

Chee Cheong Fun with char siew was ok only - the sauce is a bit too salty, there should be a better balance between the fragrance of the sesame sauce and the soya sauce used.

Egg tarts were a bit too sweet, with not much egg taste in the filling, although the custard was quite smooth and the crust not too thick.

Generally still an ok place to go to especially with a big family if you like to soak in the bustling atmosphere. Another point to note, the waitresses have all brushed up on their service, really commendable! Service staff were attentive and friendly. Perhaps they got a nice bonus for the new year huh?

the hi-tea buffet starts from 3pm till 5pm. We reached at about 3.30pm, and missed out a few trolley items. advice is to reach at 3pm sharp cos once they finished one round of the food, they will start to push out other variety of the dimsum...

the aunties pushing the trolley kept giving us food, service wise was good as we managed to eat many varieties of dimsum.

The standard of the dimsum here is better than those I had try. the prawn filling inside the hargow is huge and the prawns tasted crunchy enough.

personal favourite is definitely the "liu sha bao" in green. the filling inside the bao literally ooze out (hot!). taste so heavenly

Cooked in a special bowl of clay, this porridge is kept warm in longer periods of time and taste like those that have been cooked with much effort and love. Sprinkled with spring onions and an ample amount of ingredients like chicken strips, each mouthful taste really good! Although not comparable with Crystal Jade's congee, it is relatively worth it for the big bowl that can be shared among two ladies. Price a bit expensive though, cost about $4-$5!

This is our first visit to Swatow Seafood Restaurant. As we were seated, the waitress gave us menus to browse through and told us there was a 1-for-1 promotion for shark's fin soup, two hot pots of shark's fin soup for the price of one, at S$38. She then recommended one of their popular dishes, 三脆,which means "three crunch". The dish consists of dried fish, french beans and brinjal fried with shrimps (虾米).

We ordered two pots of shark's fin soup, a plate of 三脆,and three dim sum dishes: siew mai, steamed pork ribs and chicken feet. For drinks, we had 八宝茶.

The three dim sum dishes arrived quickly, about one minute after we have placed our order. I have to say that I definitely have tasted better dim sum elsewhere and their dim sum did not live up to my expectations. I did not find prawn pieces in the siew mai, unlike the other siew mai served at other restaurants, and the chicken feet didn't taste fresh, so I was pretty disappointed.

The recommended 三脆 dish arrived next. I found the brinjal a tad salty, but the dish was still tasty.

As for the shark's fin soup, there were only two slices of shark's fin in the broth, so it looked a bit meagre. Perhaps they cut the portion down due to the 1-for-1 promotion? It still tasted good nevertheless.

I was prepared to be impressed by the cooked food, however unexpectedly, the 八宝茶 was what I liked the most. It was really fragrant, with red dates, chrysanthemum, rose buds and a few other herbs. We were given a big pot of hot water to refill our cups and the tea was so good, I had four cups. The tea costs S$3 per person, which I think is a reasonable price.

The food was not amazing, and the prices were not justified for such mediocre tasting dishes other than the 1-for-1 shark's fin promotion.
