My friends told me that there was a Taiwanese bakery at Star Vista that made authentic Pineapple Tart at their kitchen. They called it Pineapple Cake. Looking at their poster, they mentioned that their pastry were all using original ingredients, no preservatives or colourings. Hence, I bought a box of 10 at $22.50. The Pineapple Cake looked golden brown and had a mild buttery aroma. The Pineapple Cake was hard when bit on. The fillings was also stiffer than other pineapple tart, according to their ingredient list, the fillings were 100% pineapple. The fillings though hard had real pineapple taste and fibre texture. The sweetness of the pineapple fillings was just right. Overall, the Pineapple tart was average tasting. I would prefer a softer outer pastry and softer pineapple fillings. continue reading

I bought a box of Sweet Musing. Inside the Sweet Musing, it comprises 4 boxes of Taiwan special teebits. It has the dried longan. The longan is soft and not sweet. The other box is a almond thin biscuits. The almond thin biscuit is coated with spread of syrup on top. There are about 4 pieces in the packet. The other packet is pineapple tart. Again, there are 4 packets. The pineapple tart is not soft. It is 7 cm x 2 cm. The pineapple filling is prepared with brown sugar. The other box is the soft nuggets. There are 6 soft nuggets with fresh and crispy almond. My preferred choices are the almond biscuits, longan and the nuggets. The box costs $33. continue reading

Sweet Musings exists with the aim of bringing the joy of eating Taiwanese baked goods to Singaporeans from all walks of life. Made from only high quality, wholesome and natural ingredients imported from overseas, products are free of perservatives and artifical flavouring. This Christmas it is selling log cakes in 3 different flavours : Chocolate, Strawberry, Mango. Chocolate Log Cake that is rich in premium chocolate mousse, a classic favourite. For a 650g Christmas Log Cake, it costs $16.90 now. It is packed in a colourful box. The box is a bit damaged and I ask the staff to replace it with another. It is not packed in a bag and is a bit painful for the hand holding the handle of the box for a period of time. The chocolate log cake is beautifully decorated with a lot of sweet Christmas decorations on it. Inside it is a simple chocolate swiss roll with chocolate flavoured cream, which soft and fluffy.Overall it is quite a great deal for such a cute cake. continue reading

I saw this shop being introduced on TV. So I decided to go and try their handmade Taiwan pastries, their yam pastries are really delicious and so full of yam, not so sweet, I love it so much after eating. Their sun biscuits have a soft crust and not so sweet fillings, very fragrant too, we love the pastries so much, for a price of $2 each, it is considered reasonable as all are handmade, nougats are given free to us too, it is also nice, we would go back buy again if got chance. continue reading

This is my second visit to Sweet Musings at The Star Vista.I bought four pieces of taro pastry and two pieces of green tea with melon seeds. Most of the items sold at this store are automated and uniquely produced in the store. With permission, I managed to capture the equipments used for the process. The taro pastry is made from 100 percent yam and it has several layers of thin skin wrapping a rich, strong flavoured content. But this time round, the pastry was a bit dry for the taro filling though the skin is still as flaky.Inorder to have a box presentation set, I opted for two pieces of green tea with melon seed pastry as well. The green tea melon seed was simply out of this world. So fragrant and green tealicious with the toasted melon seed filling in each pastry.Even though I am not a sweet tooth person, this green tea pastry is brimming yummy and the flavour is the best so far. Each pastry beautifully wrapped at S$2.00 per piece. Will have to find another excuse to drop by at The Star Vista for more green tea and melon seeds pastry. continue reading
