My friends told me that there was a Taiwanese bakery at Star Vista that made authentic Pineapple Tart at their kitchen. They called it Pineapple Cake. The Pineapple Cake looked golden brown and had a mild buttery aroma. The Pineapple Cake was hard when bit on. The fillings was also stiffer than other pineapple tart, according to their ingredient list, the fillings were 100% pineapple. The fillings though hard had real pineapple taste and fibre texture. The sweetness of the pineapple fillings was just right.

Overall, the Pineapple tart was average tasting. I would prefer a softer outer pastry and softer pineapple fillings.

This Christmas it is selling log cakes in 3 different flavours : Chocolate, Strawberry, Mango. Chocolate Log Cake that is rich in premium chocolate mousse, a classic favourite. For a 650g Christmas Log Cake, it costs $16.90 now. It is packed in a colourful box. The box is a bit damaged and I ask the staff to replace it with another. It is not packed in a bag and is a bit painful for the hand holding the handle of the box for a period of time.

The chocolate log cake is beautifully decorated with a lot of sweet Christmas decorations on it. Inside it is a simple chocolate swiss roll with chocolate flavoured cream, which soft and fluffy.

Overall it is quite a great deal for such a cute cake.

I saw this shop being introduced on TV. So I decided to go and try their handmade Taiwan pastries, their yam pastries are really delicious and so full of yam, not so sweet, I love it so much after eating. Their sun biscuits have a soft crust and not so sweet fillings, very fragrant too, we love the pastries so much, for a price of $2 each, it is considered reasonable as all are handmade, nougats are given free to us too, it is also nice, we would go back buy again if got chance.

The taro pastry is made from 100 percent yam and it has several layers of thin skin wrapping a rich, strong flavoured
content.

But this time round, the pastry was a bit dry for the taro filling though the skin is still as flaky.

Even though I am not a sweet tooth person, this green tea pastry is brimming yummy and the flavour is the best so far.

Each pastry beautifully wrapped at S$2.00 per piece.

Taiwan pastries from Sweet Musings (Star Vista).
This gift box comprises of 9 pastries.

2 packets of egg roll
1 Yam Cake Roll
2 pcs Sun Cake
2 pcs 3Q cake with black toasted sesame seed topping
(one piece was snapped away before this photo was taken. I guessed my hubby couldn't resist trying the first bite)
2 pieces of pineapple cake

The egg roll size is twice the size of our normal love letter rolls. The richness of the roll melts
in the mouth.

Sun cake not too doughy. The filling of white maltose and honey just melts in the mouth.

3Q cakes has red bean paste filling topped with toasted black sesame seeds.

Pineapple cakes are citrusy and chewy.

The yummiest of all is the yam cake roll which is also their best seller. The yam paste taste is just right not too sweet. Unfortunately, there is only one piece of the yam cake roll in the gift box.

Price: S$28.00 for this gift box.

But thanks to Sweet Musings, now not only can you find Taiwanese cakes in Singapore, you get to purchase freshly baked ones rather than imported cakes, which would not be as fresh.

The onion cookie 洋葱饼 (30 Pcs for S$10) was the first that we tried, and also one of my favourite. Frankly, I am not a fan of onion and sometimes the smell of it deters me away. But the onion, along with the sesame seeds that dotted the cookie, has very well enhanced the aroma and ultimately the taste of the cookie; onion taste was not very strong and the whole cookie was crunchy and savoury.

The special point about Sweet Musings is that fact that they produce the delicacies on the spot, instead of importing them in.

Unlike the usual Sun Cake 太陽餅,Sweet Musings uses white maltose and honey as an alternative to the usual brown sugar. Sun cakes can range from hard ones to those that melts in your mouth. I would say the one here at sweet musings were just right in the middle standard, not too tough and not too so doughy.

The star of the day was none other than the bestseller, Yam Cake roll (S$18). Yam cake wrapped with yam mousse.

I then tried the one a shelf level below the onion cookie - Egg Roll 蛋捲 (2 pcs $2, 12pcs $12, 24pcs $24), which has a hint of Earl Grey Tea essence in it. What's more, it comes in an extremely adorable packaging and is the best to present it as a gift to friends or relatives.

Something that caught my attention was the Egg pudding 雞蛋布丁 (5 Pcs S$12). Just like how the name suggests, the egg pudding was actually placed in real egg shells that they have meticulously prepared. We know how egg shells are really fragile, so this is surely something special. To emphasize the uniqueness, the egg puddings actually contain natural vanilla seeds that can nourish your skin.
