For a quick Fishball Noodles fix, you can opt for this stall. No shout, just to keep full. They have various combinations of fishballs and fishcakes at different prices. I picked the $4 dry version of their Fishball Meepok. The only appeal to me would be the big slices of fishcake, especially the orange type. Fishballs, though big, tasted average to me. The texture ain't the soft type when it's super fresh. The sauce of the noodles was average. Not a delicious dish overall, but works for a full meal. Total Cost: Fishball Meepok - $4 continue reading

Shopping at chinatown always makes me hungry cause there's so many good food around here. So I decided to come to my favourite (in this area) stall. Tasty QQ fishball with well-cooked mee pok coated with their special mixture of sauces. Like the big slices of fried fish cake they serve not only appetizing looking tastes really good too. One thing I don't quite like about this hawker centre is it's always so stuffy and hot and sometimes a person or 2 like to hog an entire table claiming "it's all taken" continue reading

I was at Chinatown to change money for my Melbourne trip. After that I walked over to People's Park Cooked Food Centre to grab my lunch. This stall caught my attention with the use of a mixture of Teochew and Malay wordings for their menu such as "Mi Kia Bakso Kering" (thin noodle fishball). I ordered the $4 Mi Kia Bakso Kering which came with 3 big slices of fishcakes of 2 different type and 5 huge fishballs. The fishballs were fresh, springy and crunchy. Very good indeed. For the fishcakes I find it so so only. continue reading

Other than coffee, my other favourite is fishball. I grew up with fishballs everyday. There was a very nice fishball noodle in Pek Kio Food Centre that I ate since young, but unfortunately the seller ended the stall due to health issue. Since than I have been searching for a fishball noodle that is comparable to that. When I went to People's Park, I was not sure what to eat, so I went to this Teochew Bakso to order a bowl of fishball noodle. There was no queue even though it was noon. The noodle came in a normal bowl, but the soup bowl was unique, it's oval and bigger than usual. I forgot to tell them not to put the too much oil, so it turned out to be too oily. But the fishball was bouncy and delicious. The unique taste of Singaporean fishball. Yummi. The stall owners were not very friendly though. continue reading
