We only ordered dim sum as it was still early in the morning, we didn't want to go on heavy stuff. Moreover, hubby and myself got to rush over to another Mothers' Day lunch almost immediately after this meal. Did you spot some black dim sum here?

Closer look.. They were Squid Ink Dumplings. Tastewise, they didn't taste really very different from the normal siew mai. The squid ink simply just added a splash of black to these dumplings, making them looked more unique.

Overall, the dim sum were quite ok, but probably due to the crowd, service was rather slow However, I won't blame them as I could see that they were trying their best to serve us our orders. At least, they refilled our tea frequently. After we left the restaurant around 11am, there was a horrendous long queue at the entrance. We counted ourselves lucky that we didn't need to queue by arriving early in the morning.

Do you like to dine out on Mothers' Day? For me, if I have a choice, I would gladly choose any other normal day to give my mum a treat.

The ambience was quite okay with a bit of difficulties in getting around as the tables were rather crowded so as to maximise sitting i guess. Great for big eaters and dim sum lovers!

Whenever I think of having dim sums for breakfast, Yum Cha is always the first Chinese restaurant that come into my mind. Simple layout and furnishings can be found here and the service staffs are quite nice too. My favourite here is the siew mai, which the skin is very smooth and the minced meat in it are very fresh and juicy. The crispy yam is delicious, which the yam paste used is very smooth and not too sweet.

This is one of the must try dish if you happen to visit this chinese restaurant. The chicken meat is very tender and juicy, and is really easy to chew. The best part about this dish is the crispy roasted chicken skin that is so fragrant that make you want to crave for more. Great to have it with their hong kong fried noodles or even with a bowl of plain rice as well. Simply delicious!

For all tourists, this do not leave Singapore without trying our version of dimsum, though to be honest, there are probably other restaurants offering better tasting dimsum.First visit to this Yum Cha outlet in Chinatown. Location is rather tricky if you are in a cab. It's on the right along Temple St. Almost missed it today. Also, the restaurant is located on the 2nd level. The dim sum is quite delicious. Simply love their siew mai, beancurd skin roll and chee cheong fan.

A lot of us may have visited Yum Cha Restaurant for its Dim Sum. Even the name itself Yum Cha which meant tea drinking in Cantonese suggested that this is a Dim Sum place. Don't be mislead by the name. The restaurant offers a good variety of cooked dishes too.I like to have the best of both world hence I ended up ordering a mix of Dim Sum and cooked dishes. I enjoyed all the dishes except for the shark fin dumpling soup which I found it quite bland. I have to add quite a few spoonful of vinegar

Wide ranges of deep fried and steamed dim sums are available at Yum Cha. My favourite is their look so simple and yet quite delicious deep fried carrot cake. Their carrot cake is quite thick and compact, the fragrant of the shredded carrots and the flour they have used to mix with it has make the texture really smooth and not too hard. For their price, I thought may be abit high but still for such a quality dim sums, I would not mind to have it when I have the craving to have it.

Scallop Pea-shoot Dumpling ($4.50)
Very thin skin, filled with the fresh prawn and scallop.

Prawn & Mango Sesame Fritters ($4.00)
Interesting item, filled with a big chuck of mango inside. If the outside could be more crispy, it will be better.

Deep-fried Custard Roll ($2.80)
A bit cold when served. Tastes like a bread rolled up with custard in it. Not crispy also. Disappointing.

Filo Scallop Roll ($4.50)
Very crispy and light. Like the crispy bee hoon skin.

Century Egg and Lean Meat Congee ($2.80)
The congee is cooked to very fine, barely see the grains. Well-seasoned.

Crystal Chives Dumpling ($3.80)
Never have crystal dumpling with this filling. Usually it is red bean filling. Very thin skin and the chive filling is not overpowering.

BBQ Pork Rice Flour Roll ($3.50)
Thin and soft.

Stir-fried Glutinous Rice ($4.00)
Small amount but tasty. A lot of the small pieces of dried chinese sausage.

It is crusty and eggy and the small size meant that I can easily pop two into my mouth consecutively. The century egg porridge was a let down because for its price, I would expect more ingredients, but it was quite little and the taste wasn't that fantastic. Overall, still good, just that I will not order the porridge on my next trip.

This chee cheong fun is nice..It is very soft and smooth. The cha siew inside is very tasty,it match weel with the soy sauce and the soft chee cheong fan.It is quite nice as the skin is quite crispy. It taste nice when i dip with some vinegar. The "gui cai" inside is very nice, the meat is so tender and juicy. This dish is normal.Crispy and the prawn inside is too few.But it still taste quite nice.I not really like this kind of dim sum, because it is more oily and it is not juicy enough.

However, the soup is limited to 1 per person only! It tastes good. So as you see, they not only serve PURE dim sum that makes you feel sick after too much of it. But also other chinese style cuisine! Other than this soup, there is also porridge, vegetables etc.

I would personally recommend their siew mai, char siew bao, mango prawn, chicken in paper (紫菜鸡). Other dim sum they serve are comparable and
are not too bad too!
