We were there on a weekday evening for dinner,it was full house, with queue outside the outlet as well.Luckily we made reservations in advance. The restaurant was quite big but the tables and chairs were quite closely spaced together. There was a good selection of food for the buffet and price was about $24.80++ for dinner per person. There was also fried food such as fried chicken wings, fish nuggets, steamed gyoza. There is also a salad bar with corns, veges and hams.I love their kimchi soup which is richly flavoured and their garlic chicken taste really good when bbq-ed with onions and enoki mushroom. There is free flow iced water and drinks such as lime juice, barley water.I enjoyed the dining experience and we would be back again.

Fun DIY Pancakes Smile Jul 16, 2013

Categories : American | Brunch | Kids-Friendly

Always wanted to try Nook - DIY Pancake but didn't have the chance. Was at The Grandstand with the bff last week & saw this newly opened Slappy Cakes - DIY Pancake place & decided to give it a try.

As I'm the only one eating, I pick one of the Top 7 recommended combination, which is Buttermilk + Hazelnut + Strawberries. Buttermilk taste pretty nice & pretty much like McDonald's Hotcakes smile

Pretty interesting cos you get to squeeze the batter from the squeeze bottle & onto the grill. A bottle of batter makes about 4-6 regular size pancakes. You can get creative & makes lots of funny shapes

Made 2 regular round-shaped pancakes, spread the Chocolate Hazelnut & top it with Strawberries. I don't quite like the Hazelnut spread cos it's kind of rough. I prefer Nutella.

Staffs here are pretty friendly, apart from a guy who is a little clumsy & spill quite a significant amount of latte on the dish plate when serving it to my bff.

Fun place to bring the kids here for some DIY pancake!

I manage to try the $2 Laksa~ Mission Accomplish!!

The Stall is manned by 2 ladies when I went on Saturday afternoon. One of them was busy filling the bowls with ingredients, another one was busy taking orders...

But I'm surprise that they using a charcoal burner which i believe to be one of the last few existing stall which is still using that...

AND WHAT, is only $2!! The laksa is served like a typical Katong Laksa style, with only spoon and no chopsticks...

Beautiful orange gravy topped with generous amount of cockles & green laksa leaves...mad

Easy to drink & it was a flavourful bowl~ sweet yet mild spicy!! I was slurpring up till the very last sip!!kiss

$2 Laksa is not enough for me!!

Kki Sweets SOTA  OK Nov 12, 2014

Full review: http://dairycream.blogspot.sg/2014/11/kki-sweets-sota.html
I've tried nearly all of Kki's cakes when they were back at Ann Siang Hill but I decided to revisit again at it's new outlet in SOTA . There is no new items after so long and yes, one has to be mentally prepared to fork out more, meaning $9.80 + 10% service charge for each cake. This works up to be around 930 yen for each cake, surpassing the 750-yen cakes by Hidemi Sugino and the 800-yen range of Pierre Herme & Jean Paul Hevin but NOT in terms of quality. Ouch, I definitely felt the pinch in my wallet.

First, the White Chocolate and Mango ($8.80++) which was messed up by a hazy confusion of sweetness. I would love the Strawberry and Pistachio ($9.80++) very much, if I hadn't knew it suffered from some nasty frost bites; the half-defrosted pistachio center was unpleasant.

I suspect there is a big bad wolf hidden somewhere in this Little Red Riding Hood ($9.80++) for it's notoriously famed for its intense cacao notes. Pegged exquisitely against a sharp raspberry compote, the mousse layers were smooth as silk, to the verge of tasting like refrigerated butter left under room temperature for 3 minutes and not longer than that.

Meanwhile, I was surprised that Kki proffered a delicious Mont Blanc ($9.80++) , safe from the radical glucose level by trading the uber-sweet meringue with an almond fragipane tart base and cushioning the chestnut goodness with clouds of heavenly light Chantily cream.

I was expecting a "crunch" sound as I cut through the Cafe Dumo ($9.80++) but there was silence. Still, I gleaned in delight when my tongue hit some faintly crunchy praline, buried amidst the constituents resting atop, while hazelnut tones echoed back and forth amidst the waves of coffee. Highly recommended for coffee lovers.

And Fromage Melon ($8.80++) was my personal favourite for two reasons. One, the rarity of flavours--where else in SG can you find a cheese melon combination? Two, superbly executed textures; neither too light nor dense cheese layer with solidly fresh biscuit base

I don't know how Kki Sweets got to be associated with Japanese cakes but to be honest, it isn't. Branded with a streak of perfectionism, the petit gateaux are seriously elegant and dainty, striking out a legend of its own by distinguishing from the mediocre cakes saturated in Singapore.

Beef Pepper Rice

Beef Pepper Rice

Beef Pepper Rice - $6.50 (student promotion). I love to eat at Pepper Lunch after school, because they have special price for students. With this student meal, I only needed to pay $6.50 for my Beef Pepper Rice, besides, drink is already included. Quite affordable right? I always add grated cheese (+$0.90) to complete my meal, because I like it when the cheese become melted as I pour it on the pan. The beef was juicy, it tasted nice when I stirred everything all together. Overall, Pepper Lunch never disappoints me so far, moreover with the student meal they offer, it is such a steal.

Spending per head: Approximately $8(Lunch)
