Funny story. My friend and I went to Duxton Road to try out this restaurant recommended by a friend. But when we got there, it was already closed! With no plan B, we just walked and walked until we saw L'entrecote. Out of all the restaurants that night, this had the most diners -- so we guessed that the food must be good.

Even with all the customers (mostly expats), we managed to get a table for 2. My friend ordered the entrecote steak drizzled with their secret sauce. It was served with salad and fries. I had the sardine in tin, which was served with bread, lemon, and salt. Then, we shared the food.

The sardines was high quality without that lingering fishy taste. It was a great appetiser, especiallly when you top it on the bread, drizzle lemon juice, and add a bit of salt. As for the steak, I wasn't so impressed. In all honesty, Ive tried better ones. I prefer my steak to be fatty! Haha. Plus, I prefer the raw taste. The version I had was just swimming in the sauce, which tasted like the burger steak sauce at this fastfood chain in the PH. It wasn't bad.. but it wasn't impressive.... It was just OK.

Pretty Good Molten Choco Cake Smile Jun 05, 2013

After a heavy dinner, I was craving for something sweet. So, I suggested to my friends that we have dessert. We were at Raffles so we just headed to Starbucks at One Fullerton. I ordered the molten lava cake.

Price was quite reasonable and the guy at the counter offered to heat up my order. It was very soft and the chocolate just oozed out of the cake as soon as I sliced it with my fork... just how I like it. =D It went well with the Caffe Latte I ordered. Mmmgood!

Tapa King is still King Smile Jun 05, 2013

Whenever I meet up with my Filipino friends, we always go to a Philippines restaurant. And last night, we went to Tapa King at Lau Pa Sat. There were so many tapa (marinated meat) options and it took a while for me to choose my order. In the end, I settled for the Tapa Queen, which has a sweet and spicy flavour.

As soon as you order, the cook would fry your tapa and egg on the spot, so you may have to wait a while. But at least, you get your food warm.. These are served with fried rice, tomato/onions garnish, and unlimited soup! =D

The tapa was cooked just right so it was still tender and juicy. Plus the cook added some sauce which just enhanced the flavour. It was soo good, I'll come back to try other options.

So-so Waffles Cry May 27, 2013

Categories : Restaurant | Steaks and Grills

The last time I had waffles at Charly T's two years ago, I remembered that it was so good. The outside part was crispy yet it still managed to make the inside very soft. So, when my friend and I happened to pass by Charly T's at Dhoby Ghaut after an exhausting dance class, I suggested that we stop by and have their waffles.

We ordered one waffle to share since my friend eats a little. Seriously, just a few bites and she's done so that pretty much leaves the bigger portion to me. Hehe. Anyway, it was served with butter and syrup.

I was quite disappointed that it was hard. Perhaps it was left in the waffle maker a few minutes longer so it kinda hurt my the back of my mouth when I chewed or bit the waffle. Even the little syrup given to me didn't help. Plus the portion was smaller compared to the other waffle place I tried at The Cathay...

Everything was Salty!  Cry May 23, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Buffet | Sukiyaki/Shabu Shabu

From afar, this Jap place is very attractive. It has a very bright and lively interior which, I think, draws people to try out this new restaurant at Orchard Central. I was there at around 630pm and people were already waiting outside to get a table. Thankfully, I already had a reserved seat there.

Anyway, since this is a shabu shabu place you choose the soup base where you can to cook the fresh ingredients you can just get from the counter. There's also varied fresh meats which you can ask for. My first soup base was the shoyu and it was quite salty.

I tried the other soup bases, curry and spicy... and they were also also salty. I must have drunk 8 glasses of water just for my body to recover from the extreme salt intake. Too bad because the ingredients were really fresh and the meats had this sweetness to them...

Never mind the queue in front of the restaurant. This place is for you only if you live and breathe salt.
