Brunch Out! :) Smile Dec 10, 2012

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum | Kids-Friendly

I decided to bring my dad to Canton Paradise to have brunch. The menu looks similar to Crystal Jade and other chinese restaurant selling dim sum, porridge, noodles and other zi char style dishes.

Below is a list of food which I ordered:
1. Shredded Pork & Century Egg Porridge - smooth and lots of ingredients! Definitely LIKE! smile
2. Jumbo Prawn Wanton Noodles (Dried) - My dad loves this!
3. Jumbo Prawn Wanton Noodles (Soup) - I like the soup!
4. Mini Custard Buns - Thumbs up! Definitely the best! My dad loves this too! The salted egg custard liquid was super tasty!
5. Scallop Rice Wrap - I like this. The taste was light and refreshing. The scallops were fresh too!
6. Siew Mai - Three mini shrimps wrapped in one siew mai, definitely worth a try!
7. Fried Prawn Wrapped with Mango - Didn't taste as good as the ones we tried elsewhere.
8. Chicken Feet - We didn't like this. Too tough. Prefer crystal jade's one.
9. Original Chilled HK Iced Milk Tea - Thought it will come with a bowl of ice underneath. Anyway, the drink tasted fine.
10. Hot Coffee - Must ORDER! My dad and I love it very much! GREAT COFFEE BEAN TASTE! lol

Overall, this restaurant is worth a visit. You should come with more friends so that you can order more to try out and the cost will be lower. Alternatively, if you are free on weekdays (2.30-5.00pm), you should try their tea time promotion. It only costs you $8.80++ for a bowl of porridge, 4 pieces of dim sum and a cup of coffee. Very good deal.

Hope all of you enjoy! Do share on more DIM SUM places if you all have tried! I would love to try them too! lol

Dinner Out!  Smile Dec 08, 2012

Our first visit to try out Korean food at Seoul Garden. We were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the Korean food served. Generous serving with a reasonable price. Below were what we ordered:

Marinated Beef Hotpot with kimchi soup base ($11.90++)
Clams Hotpot with kimchi soup base ($9.90++)
Deep fried chicken nuggets with sweet sauce ($3.90++ bundling)

The kimchi soup tasted great and the ingredients were plenty in the soup! I personally preferred the clams hotpot! It tasted very sweet! But I thought they could have washed the clams thoroughly to get rid of the sand in them. The marinated beef would be perfect if the meat was more tender. The chicken nuggets was fantastic! We love the taste of it!

Downside - there are no side-dishes being served. You have to top up additional money if you want to try them. *sad*

We will definitely visit it again if we are hungry for some Hotpot! Yums!

After dinner, we decided to check out new cafe outlets in Vivo and we happened to chance upon this. The restaurant was packed and people just steamed in after we settled down in minutes. We ordered Iced Vietnam Coffee (Small-$4.30) and Iced Yuzu Tea (Small-$5.00) to try. We were too full for their japanese-style desserts. Super tempting when many people ordered their desserts and pastries. The drinks tasted great! Asked for lesser condensed milk if you want a less sweet Vietnam coffee. I thought the coffee tasted great. Not too strong. Worth a try if you are hanging around in Vivo. smile We will definitely try out the pastries and desserts next time! Also to try out Costa Coffee too!

Lunch Out!  OK Dec 04, 2012

My second visit to Boston Seafood Shack. We were attracted by their 1-for-1 fish&chips from 11am-6pm. Both of us ordered the snapper fish&chips. As usual, the fish serving was small compared to Mahattan or Fish&Co. There was a strong snapper fish taste for one of the two pieces which I ate. Suspected that they kept the fish too long. The fish meat was really tough compared to the first time when I had catch of the day. The chips were served cold (it would be better if they were served pipping hot).

Similarly, all prices are inclusive of gst and service charge. So we paid $7.50nett each for our snapper fish&chips. I would suggest that the restaurant to give slightly bigger portion of the fish for the meal. If there isn't any promotion, one snapper fish&chips would cost $15. So expensive right for the kind of serving as you see in my picture!

I believe if they alter the serving portion, more people will come to try it. During my first visit, we paid $5.00 to add on oysters to our set. Guess how many pieces we were given? Only two small pieces - pathetic. With $5.00, we can get frozen oysters in the supermarket to fry it ourselves.

After hearing so much about Nam Nam noodle house, my friend and I decided to give it a try to reminisce our time back in Vietnam! smile Both of us ordered a beef pho ($8.90) and iced Vietnamese coffee ($2.50).

They used beef sukiyaki meat for the pho. This is very different from how it is done in Vietnam. The soup base was sweet and slight sourish. Comparing to the pho we had back in Vietnam, this beef pho was stronger in taste. My friend said she felt tasty after finishing it and thought there might be msg added to it. Pho in Vietnam didn't give us such problem. I would rate it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

The iced Vietnamese coffee was bad and diluted. It tasted like instant coffee. Seriously, go to Vietnam and have a cup of their iced coffee - really thick, smooth and sweet.

Considering that all prices are inclusive of gst and no service charge, we would definitely visit it again! smile

Doesn't taste like Vietnamese Coffee! :( Price is cheap though.
