Fish slice porridge was great, the texture of the porridge was ideal, the fish slices was fresh and good. The fried fritters (you tiao) were really delicious, it's been a long time I had such nice you tiao that I won't feel guilty after eating them. It's worth the calories intake.

The shrimp cheong fun we ordered was great too! It was smooth and not thick, some restaurants can't even get this right texture and smoothness. The warm soya bean was also good, it has a great taste. The HK milk tea is normal.

I would say the main highlight of this buffet spread is the variety of fresh oysters. I had been there a few times for buffet dinner, on the weekend dinner, they will serve 8-9 different types of fresh oysters. My Dad and hubby enjoyed the oysters a lot. As for me, I prefer the sashimi more than the fresh oysters.

I normally don't like swordfish sashimi, as I always thought that eating swordfish is like eating a piece of lard, but not at Oscar’s. The swordfish sashimi here is really very fresh and good that I enjoy eating them. There was one night I had the opportunity to have the delectable, melt-in-the-mouth steak. It was the best beef I ever had.

The cooked food section was just normal to me, nothing special for me to review on. There is a noodle section outside the restaurant, I tried the lor mee and laksa, and both were good. I enjoy the many types of cheese as well, and the Caesar salad which is a well-known dish at Oscar’s buffet, was really great.

Another dish to highlight is the freshly baked waffle and ice-cream. The fresh and warm waffle goes so well with the ice-cream, I like the vanilla ice-cream.

Character cake Smile Jul 14, 2011

It was my nephew's birthday and Thomas & Friends is a popular character of his age. Hence, I bought my nephew to the Polar cake stall at Hougang Mall to select his Thomas the train cake. I bought just because of his liking. I looked at the cake, and thought to myself that it must be the traditional butter cream cake. But to our surprise, we all loved the smooth and soft chocolate sponge cake and cool cream around the cake. It was unexpectedly delicious.

Offer Tea = Gong Cha Smile Jul 11, 2011
Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Seems like all Gong Cha outlets have queues, this outlet is no difference to the others as well. Every time I pass by this outlet, I see queues and the wait seems to be longer than other outlets I had been to, such as the Tampines Central.

I always like to have Earl Grey Milk Tea with Brown Sugar Crystal Jelly, as I love the chewy-ness of the brown sugar crystal jellies and I am so used to the taste of the earl grey milk tea. I had influenced my brother to this drink as well. I had tried Taro milk as well, but I felt that it will be too much of taro taste after I drank 3/4 of it, hence the earl grey is still my best choice.

My hubby likes to have Milk Tea with Ai-yu jelly. He likes the ai-yu jelly that no other bubble tea chain has. The Ai-yu jelly at other chain either are too hard or it has a lemon flavor. He just like how Gong Cha has done theirs, plain and soft, which goes well with the milk tea.

Roselle Pearls Smile Jul 11, 2011

Jasmine Green Tea with Roselle Pearls

Jasmine Green Tea with Roselle Pearls

This is yet another bubble tea stall that has opened a few outlets in the past few months. I was thinking of drinking something that can quench my thirst and I ordered the jasmine green tea. As for the additional, I wanted something chewy, hence I asked for recommendations. I was surprised about the roselle pearls that this stall sells and I chosed that for my drink.

The pink roselle pearls are not sweet, and it has very, very little taste of the roselle. Overall, it was a great drink and roselle is said to help in detox, so I would drink that if I pass by that place again.
